And it's back to being a car.

Other than a hindsight “should’ve changed the motor mounts”, everything works as it did before. It’s actually been together for a couple of weeks now, and even got a clean bill of health from a Lexus dealer, besides the motor mounts.

and even got a clean bill of health from a Lexus d ealer

chances are that means they looked at it and said “Anyone seen one of these in the last 5 years?” “No.” “Looks good to me.”

Nah I see like 5 of these a day coming into service or for a car wash. Old dudes with LS’s keep them for a ridiculously long time.

I stand corrected.  though I was more thinking along the lines of anything that age wouldn’t be brought into the dealer all that often at this point instead of an indie mechanic.  Kind of like how I feel a bit weird bringing my ~10 year old Ranger to the dealer for certain things.  Kind of like back in the day when I had a diesel F-250.  The IDI diesel used in Ford pickups was more or less the same from 1983-1994, so dealer techs could work on any 6.9 or 7.3 from those years.  But within 5 years of the all -electronic Powerstroke 7.3 coming out, nobody was left at the dealer who knew the IDI.

Lexus owners are a different  breed. They buy the cars for their reliability, yet understand that they need maintenance. This one had every single record through the Lexus dealer up until when my Dad bought it less than a year ago.
