You’d think this was the first time it’s snowed here

I managed 650 of the 700 miles I was going for today and got stopped 60 miles from home by like 3-4 inches of snow. To be fair, my rental is a FWD Rogue and it’s been hating life for the last 120 miles while all the Subaru drivers laughed their asses off at me . I just hope they figure out where they hid the snow plows before tomorrow morning.

(To any of you intending to stalk me, the gold star is not my house or my current location, just the random parking lot where I ditched the Fiat when I ran over that ladder on the way to the airport)

Why oh why are you driving so far?! You drive out from California or New Jersey?! That’s a good click of the old odometer you just did.

I was in Denver last year during, what would be a minor snowstorm in northern Wi.

I saw lots of people getting stuck at red lights, a bus that had slide back down a residential st that was a small hill.

And mobbed around with a Raptor in my rental GLC300.

Drove to New Mexico in the morning for a meeting and almost made it home again! I wish I’d just presumed they couldn’t get the forecast right and packed an overnight bag just in case.

Yes! Grr. It was 4 am and there’s a weird stretch of highway there where the road surface is like a black hole because of how the lighting is angled next to the highway. That sucked.

I’m still in a hotel room in the Springs. Saw one plow last night before I gave up, and it was on the highway for the stretch of one exit.

could certainly be worse, of course you’ll still have to pass monument hill, which appears to be some sort of bermuda triangle of terrible weather

YES. But I’m glad I didn’t have to go to  Grand Junction or something.

Stapleton’s a bit slick. No, I don’t live there.

Coming from Chicago, Denver’s snow prep seemed better when I was there, but I liked commuting on snowy d ays because it seemed like most people just stayed home, I lived in Lakewood and could usually get  to centennial faster on a snowy day than a normal one.

Jeffco has historically seemed better prepared to me than Denver , but CDOT in particular sort of shit the bed with this one . I think they underestimated the storm and haven’t caught up since it just keeps snowing. Schools are all closed, the mountains are shut down (understandably, they got 1-2 feet) but the local news this morning seemed surprised at how bad roads are from Pueblo north.

Let’s put it this way, I’ve successfully driven to Durango in my Fiat in February (with snow tires)  but I’ve been stuck here for 11 hours and the highway is as bad as it was when I stopped.

Yeah the one time I got my NC stuck in Denver was actually the ramp from 6 to i25, the roads were ok and the highways were too but nobody had ever touched the ramp, there were dozens of cars stuck there and a tow truck just constantly towing people to the end of the ramp and going back for the next one.

I commute from Brighton to Aurora, all back roads except Tower and P enã and its not too bad. But they’re building a ton of houses right off Tower now, it’s going to ge t much worse.

I got super lucky and followed a plow over Monument, or I’m pretty sure I’d be in the ditch.  Still took 2 hours to get back to town.

Honestly my life would make a lot more sense if I’d just move over towards the airport  but those new subdivisions are so boring.

Lol. Fiat is where I left it. Rogue is back at Enterprise (good riddance). I just walked 3 miles home and I’m ready for a beer.
