Those Pentastars have gone unchanged for so long. Reminds me of Nissan and their VQ. Which just further validates my claim that Nissan is the Japanese Dodge.

But I guess you could say the same for the GR, J35, etc. Oh well, I stand by my statement!

They included a bunch of standard safety features that were mucho $$ and a couple trim levels up in the past.  That alone is a great move with AWD being the proverbial cherry on top.

Just like the Durangos these fail on, so will these in a few years, and it’ll look horrid and cost limbs to replace.

Kinja'd!!!

Unless they actually figured out how to do it properly this time.

Example of what I’m talking about.

Oooooh, it’s a racetrack with a tunnel section or jump!

Seriously though, it seems the only FCA products I don’t see with partially dead ‘racetrack’ lights are Challengers.

The GR, yes, the J, a little less so. A modern J35 has a lot of parts that won’t fit a J from the turn of the century. I think Honda just uses the J designation for all its V6s now, because even the NSX’s engine code is JNC1.

AWD or not, they couldn’t pay me to take a Pacifica.

I think they’re ugly as sin ( although the new nose is an improvement ) and they feel terrible inside.

Th at seems like a mild change.

I suppose it's just surprising it lacks direct injection and that the power has changed much in years.

I’ve been giving this some thought since reading a comment by him this morning.

I feel reasonably confident once the kids are gone he’s going to throw off the believe system he built up around minivanlyfe. Oh, he’ll always keep his hand in the game for when the golden years roll around and grand kiddies start needing indoctrination into muscle minivan’s that eat thunder and crap shredded asphalt out from between all four of their powered wheels.

S ee him rolling over a boatload of equity and good behavior into something new off the lot that needs really nothing done to it except removing a few pesky legally required frivolities. A vehicle about as low slung as any sane person would own given the state of his local roads. Then warehousing a half dozen sets of pre- mounted wheels the rubber disappears off with regularity.

Did they fix the oil cooler issue with that update as well?  Seems like more of an issue for the early pentastars, but that may just be because the newer ones haven’t aged up yet.

Direct injection can suck it.  At least without the port injection add on that some of the newer DI engines have.  Carbon build up blows.  Ask any Audi FSI owner.

Direct and port injection rule. I'm quite content with my coyote and its direct and port injection

Why change what works to a more trouble some design?

They’re making 300+hp NA from a pretty basic V6 while passing emissions and getting respectable economy without needing to add all the troublesome things. Personally, I call that a win.

I know oil filter housings are prone to crack from getting over torqued.

Kinja'd!!!1

When the kids are gone is when I can get really crazy with a minivan, I honestly don’t see myself getting out of the minivan game.

That’s not to say that I won’t dabble in something like a Hellcat at some point, but they’ll probably be outlawed for production by the time I’m actually ready to buy, so I’ll just end up building my own monster.

They’re really not though.

The interior is cheap feeling, the seats are terrible, the transmission is horrid, the handling is terrible.

They need to axe the Pacifica/Voyager and keep the Grand Caravan on.

We drove a few of them before we got our GC. Something about them they just felt extremely cheap.

I mean sure, they’re loaded up with tech, but that means nothing to me.

No offense meant to you, a lot of people like them, I just can’t get past their inherent flaws.

Fair enough, I’m just noting the cycle is very well established and your handling of the transition to hard realities of parenthood has some admirable facets.  I grin every time I see a photo of your minivan.

The problem with those sprayers is they generally don’t lay down a smooth coat and they lack a decent “fan”.

Don’t get me wrong, you can always give a tes t spray on something and see how it goes.
