Namely modifying the new van.
After much research and talking with the service guy about my warranty, it seems Mopar has no issue with modding unless the mod directly caused the warranty issue.
That being said, I’m working on an intake resonator delete and I’ll be ordering Ripp coils and iridium plugs. The resonator delete has been proven for 6-8hp and 12-14ft-lbs on the Pentastar engines, so that’ll help some with my “lack of torque” issue. The Ripp coils have proven power/torque gains while smoothing out the power curve, plus they’re supposed to be far better quality than OEM.
I have the 4" to 3.75" 90 degree silicone
reducer elbow ordered and the 4" diameter aluminum pipe, so once they show up I’ll mock it up to find out exactly what I need to get it mated to the factory airbox.
Soon people, soon:

Well, that lasted about as long as I expected.

What can I say, the lack of torque drives me nuts.

Did yours come with the PUG lower intake manifold already? If not, I’ve heard good things. Also, the upper intakes have a ton of casting flash that can be removed. Not much to do in the way of “porting”, but apparently just a simple clean-up creates notica ble changes.

Nice! These are mild and I can’t imagine would cause any problems.

Some overnight parts from China and it will decimate all at Race Wars.

Yeah, I don't blame you there. Some people don't mind it, but I can't stand having to rev an engine to the moon before it will move anywhere.

4k rpms before it has any noticeable pickup.
When you’re used to engines that make all their torque from 1800 rpms, it’s very annoying.

It does not have the PUG, they never put it on the GCs, but that is on my list as well, although I’ve been thinking against it as what I’ve found it shifts the power higher into the rpms, which is the opposite of what I’m trying to accomplish.

Right, you want more grunt, good point.
Have people seen more low-end with the res delete? I would assume that would raise the power band, if anything. Or is it a pretty even increase overall?
I’ve been on the periphery of the performance development of the Pentastar. My level is “How the hell do i get the upper intake off so I can change the spark plugs ?” So I’ve heard a lot, but haven’t really researched.

Something with the way the resonator directs the flow back into itself to kill noise also kills the low end. People are generally seeing 12-14ft-lbs of torque, a smoother curve, and some have even seen the torque start coming in 1,000rpms sooner.
In reality it boosts the low/mid performance more than anything.
The Ripp coil packs seem to boost power and torque evenly while smoothing the curve out.
Between the delete and the coils it should put me around
with around 315
hp and
290ft-lbs with torque coming in around 1k rpms sooner and a smoother curve. That should be plenty until the warranty is up.

Right on! I know, back in my Honda days, people would shit all over short-rams and CAIs because they had the opposite effect, and robbed all the low-end. Damn, now I’m thinking I should look into a res delete tube as well! Ripp coils were on my list, but i think i need to get t he front end squared away first. It’s getting a bit crashy over bumps. At 140k, it’s probably time to start replacing some parts.

Yuck. The Cruze is like that too. You'd think since the 1.4 is turboed, it would help out the bottom end. Nope. Absolutely gutless under 3k.
