I hiked this one in December once after a blizzard (not IN a blizzard). Solo. With cotton pants. Ugh. Totally w orth it. 6500' at the peak, 4,000' vertical from the trailhead. A nd the town (bottom trailhead) is only about 1,000'. One of the few vertical miles you can hike in the East. No roads to the top.

Yeah, but he was just t rying to sell overpriced winter clothes. Shit, pay no attention to my ancient, beat to shit snow pants that are tougher and in better shape than I am. Once I clipped a stump while skiing. There wasn’t a mark on the snow pants, but my shin was a bloody mess.

Oh I didn’t even think of that as a thing to do, but mostly because of the low ceiling of clouds that’s been hanging around. Did you get to the top? It was “only” 30-40 winds today, and in the teens? That’s not bad for up there in the winter. Right now it’s blowing more like 70.

They don’t go all the way up to the summit in the winter, they stop slightly above the treeline. Weather wasn’t much worse than I’m used to but pulling off my gloves to take pictures up there was definitely unpleasant. The squalls cleared up on our descent and we got some decent views.

What else have you done up there? Also, you’re not THAT far from Team O’Neil... just ... wrong side of the mountains.
