Yeah, it’s a few days late, sue me. I’m not getting paid for this.

Mindhunter was excellently written and an interesting read. It’s biographical for the first bit, then becomes a collection of “war stories”, which break down the crimes and the suspect profiles they end up looking for. Definitely not for the faint of heart, it’s very disturbing.

This month, I’ll be reading Good Omens to be a bit more positive.

So, what did you all read in January?

I’m reading A Whiff of Death. One of the few Asimov books that I’ve read that is not set in the distant future.

I finished 99 Stories by Wayne Gretzky. Definitely a good read for those that like hockey, but I’m not good at short stories, which is basically what this book is a collection of. That made it tough to get into a rhythm reading it.

This month, I’m reading Blue Moon by Lee Child. Sometimes I like just a mindless read, and Jack Reacher novels are pretty mindless. I still find it amusing that Tom Cruise played 6’5”, 260lb Jack Reacher in movies.

I'm still finishing my January book, so I'll probably update this next week (and pick something shorter for February).

I read about half of How to be a motoring journalist by Roy Lanchester. It’s satire done by Richard Porter (Sniffpetrol, Top Gear, Grand Tour writer). It’s pretty entertaining but the writing style hasn’t kept me glued to it. I should finish it this month and move on to one of the Ben Macintyre books I have waiting for me (either The spy and the traitor or Double cross). You might like his work, it’s well researched non-fiction mostly about  espionage, check out A spy among friends if you get a chance.

I finished my January book late so logically I went for a longer book for February.

I’m still working through Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Did you watch the Netflix series also? The guy who plays Ed Kemper is amazing!

I am reading Virgil Wander , by Leif Enger.  Very uplifiting, as Enger’s writing tends to be.

As for disturbing, the cover of the book you mention is disturbing enough for me to look right past.

I can’t recommend that book highly enough, it’s what got me back into reading after avoiding it like the plague since high school (STEM major).

I managed to finish Peter Andrew’s Back from the Brink...it’s a nonfiction book about a sustainable farming system that the author developed over his lifetime. It’s a confounding read for someone with a science and natural resources background due to his writing style and language but I don't doubt his landscape observation powers...

I read James Rollins: The seventh plague. Part of his Sigma Force series, which I like for being a fictious blend of well researched history and cutting edge science. The seventh plague supposes that the Nile River turning red in ancient times was caused by an electricity eating microbe, when a billionaire tries to use these microbes to build a wireless power network ala Nikola Tesla, by seeding the ionosphere with the microbes. A fresh breakout of the plague occurs, so Sigma Force has to save world. I do like this series this is the third book I’ve completed of it.

Since I barely finished this book in time I’m going to set a shorter goal for Feb. and read Diesel: Ignition by Tyson Hesse.

Good O mens as in the Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaimen collab? That’s a fun book, especially if you’re familiar with the respective authors’ different styles.

I didn't read anything January, but now that you mentioned Good Omens I may just start over with Terry Pratchett's disc world series. I read the first few and loved the offbeat humor. Pretty unique for a fantasy mega-series
