Best part of the commercial

I don’t know if anyone has posted about this, but there was only one ad during last night’s Super Bowl that was really worth watching, and it was priceless. I’m talking about Bill Murray’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The timing of the concept, the production values, everything was just so perfect that my wife and I guffawed when it came on.

Would that everything made by FCA were done as well.

I was wondering how the groundhog wrangling was done (oh hey, unintended pun). I was thinking you could CGI or puppeteer him for some shots where you needed a specific behavior, like at the pin ball machine.  But, if they did that, it’s so seamless that I can’t tell.

I have questions after the avocado commercial. Are all avocados grown in Mexico? Anytime I’m at the store there is the avocado pile but there aren’t brand name avocados. How am I supposed to get avocados from Mexico when it’s just bulk avocado in the store. I’m not seeing any brands. I can’t tell if it’s something I’ve never looked at or if the commercial is more a general avocado awareness campaign. I’m going to the grocery store for market research after work. /rambling

I have a pretty good eye for CGI from film school and that looks real to me. I think in the wide shot it may have been a stuffed groundhog, as it doesn’t move, but when he turns in the closeup shot I think they probably got that by having someone off camera waving something to get his attention.

Hehe.  I’m not the guy to answer your existential avocado questions.  I barely noticed the other commercials.  For serious, I believe that most avocados on our market are from CA, but I can’t even be bothered to Google it and be sure.

Makes sense.  Just like getting my daughter’s baby picture.  She was crying for all but one of the 53 consecutive shots I took, but the one where she got distracted and moved her head is the one I used.

Hands down my favorite ad this year. Probably because it’s one of my favorite movies ever and they put so much effort into recreating these scenes.

It’s funny: I find Ellen Degeneres annoying . She just gets under my skin. I can’t say why, and anybody reading this, I would expect them to ask me whether middle-age straight white mail strong gay woman bias and I continually check whether any of that underlies it, but for whatever reason... I don’t hate the woman nor hold her in any contempt, she just grates on me.
