Seriously, though, Bill Watterson was a visionary. This was 1990, and YouTube didn’t appear until 2005.

The panel about becoming cultural icons amuses me. By the time this particular comic was printed Calvin & Hobbes we re very much cultural icons.

I was particularly struck by the first two panels. These are usually a throw away gag by Watterson because newspapers often dropped the top row on Sunday to save space. But my boys spend hours watching youtube videos of people playing video games rather than playing the games themselves.

If anyone envisioned comment section as they became, they might not have been made at all. Usually, the comments are horrible.
IMHO Even my comments are often pretty poor.
