That’s right, the good old Azera. Due to carbon build up and dealer neglect(which is on record), the carbon was bad enough by now that it broke up and scored the cylinder walls. It’s been misfiring over the past few months, and the dealer just said it was the plugs, and they’d do the job for $600. We did it in 45 minutes. Still misfiring. Finally my dad took it to the dealer. They called him a couple of days ago asking for permission to remove the oil pan, when he asked why, they finally told him that the engine was toast. Luckily it’s a CPO car and under warranty.

This is my biggest worry about my direct injection engines.

For what it’s worth, Hyundai is the absolute worst about it. It doesn’t really seem to be an issue on the GTI’s.
