This was probably a tablespoon of sand that was gravity segregated into a catch can that isn’t in my filter or engine.

Yep, some newer tractors are ditching  them now because they are too effective and they don’t sell enough replaceable elements... You could at least argue that oil-bath filters were subject to problems at steep angles, and that they were a source of “hazardous waste” -despite being able to reuse used engine oil and producing far less fluid poison than an oil change- but this trend to remove cyclonic pre-filters is total shit.

They are the only things that actually make a dorkel a proper snorkel.
