It sort of reminds me of old gen1 Kinja or even the pre-Kinja era Oppo for those of you who have been around forever like me, and that is a compliment. It’s everything I would expect/want for a replacement since I’m not fond of Drive Tribe. I’m still pissed I’m going to be losing 8 years of my TA build blog, but such is life. I backed up my posted images years ago in preparation of this.
I didn’t do any touching up of this photo, that’s just how the 20 year old film and a foggy sunset in the mountains made it look.

Yeah, haven't even been published to oppo for 24 hours yet. I'm impressed with the adoption so far.

I had trouble posting there an hour or so ago. I suspect it will take a bit to get the hamster transferred over and remotivated to spin in his wheel.
You aren’t missing much at this point except test posts and people swamping jminer with requests.

Most get right through on the first, or second attempt. Give it a few minutes and it’ll likely let you though. Working on it though as well.

That is very valuable commentary Bandit.
It appears there might be a power vacuum among those wishing to have their way or have their say. I see a lot more options, blogs included, and potential for growth on opposite-lock than...

try being a bit more secure on the password, I saw someone with the same issue and eventually worked when he said he made it more complex so possible some password requirements on it that are not published

I have a pretty complex password , 10+ characters, caps, numbers, symbols... I’d be shocked if they asked for more.

maybe your password is too complex then, try taking out the symbols as some sites don’t like you using symbols in the password

It’s broken—
And, this, frankly is emblematic of the Roll Your Own approach here... a never ending series of Open Support Tickets and weird errors— certain browsers, certain phones, certain OS versions.
Meanwhile DriveTribe is up and stable and supported with millions of dollars in development budget. Wonder which will give a better user experience?

Upon reflection I feel the need to point out this was satire and no ill will should be expressed towards those making the good humored responses I posted a screenshot of.
Fully removing v

estranged from what made this place enjoyable
would be very welcome. Give those who fought the hard fight a chance to rest and replenish from the wellspring of fresh interests.

I will admit I do like what I see there so far. The one exception being that I don’t like posts being pushed to the top based on latest activity. When I check Oppo I’m checking to see what’s new.
I also think we should move it over to the oppositelock.com domain. opposite-lock just seems off to me and if a member owns the oppositelock domain I don’t see why we can’t continue to use the current name.

Very good point. My one fear with DT is them turning into another Kinja, but it is a risk I can take.

Honestly, I think DT is a far superior solution. No offense to JM, he’s been busting ass on this, but I’m in IT - you can’t have a single developer working when he can on a cheap AWS server support a complex community website like this.

Things seem to be settling with it performing reasonably so far. Hiccups every now and again but part of that is me mucking with it. Signing in seems to be the biggest occasional problem as of yet.

Oh fair enough... Of course we used to joke about Java, the environment “you write once, but debug everywhere.” I already figured out that I can’t even LOG ON to “hypen” so I’m not super encouraged at the moment.
I just think, when this joint closes down, it’s going to be a fast diaspora down the path of least resistance. I’m already loving NOT seeing Jezebel-ite cross posts on DriveTribe... so, there’s that!

They’re isolated- and it’s mostly people running ad blockers having problems. Seems something in the registration process seems fishy to them even though there are zero ads.

Hmmm. Perhaps I’m not having issues as I whitelisted it right away to ensure no conflicts. Even whitelisted on one of our computers running through a filter proxy...
I was messing around in the editor just to see if I could full on wreck anything, so far so good.
I tried to dump some VERY BASIC html tags in there to see if I could make headers or underline or anything. But I think I am far too basic (inputing incorrectly) or the option is not there. Just not a thing yet? Seems like the editor uses html “like” formatting, but nothing “ proper ”. If that makes any sense to you. I don’t have the jargon to spit this out more betters.

I thought the editor supported html tags, but someone else mentioned they weren’t working quite right. I’ll make sure that’s enabled.
While it’s not perfect, it mostly works which is good.

Cool. I’ll have a re-fiddle with it tomorrow.
See what I can sew together. Like a seal using two forks to knit a quilt. Perhaps it shall be beautiful. Perhaps Likely it shan’t .
