Fuck this entire week. Should have been smooth sailing but nooooo, Oppo is shutting down, a sheared a wheel stud, and it’s going to take me days to replace. I removed the bolt holding the abs sensor and it is literally fused to everything else. I’m using screwdrivers in attempts to pry it off. I also wrecked several other bolts. Yay

Damn, that sucks man! Hopefully they won’t be too big a PITA to get sorted....make sure you join up on one of the Oppo ‘life rafts’ to keep in the loop for when we get a new Oppo v. 2 sorted out!

Looks of goop and or rust? What's going on around the sensor?

Ah. My camshaft position sensor was tough to pry off and I was to be really careful not to score the block, or case, or whatever the heck it was bolted to. If you haven’t, I’d get a flatblade on the opposite side and just start slowly and barely wiggling both. Lots of patience and cursing

Unfortunately I can’t get to the back side. I have a few screwdrivers pried in there and trying to pry and bash it out
This is what we'll show whenever you publish anything on Kinja:

I destroyed a sensor like this trying to get it out.. . Found out later that it would have been cheaper to cut the metal out from around it and replace the back plate instead.

Is there enough room with the tone ring unbolted to sneak the old stud out and the new stud in without removing the ABS sensor? If its possible it would likely be at the 6-o-clock position.
Makes me happy that the newer models have the ABS sensor read off the axle rather than a tone ring on the hub - no ABS sensor to remove when doing lug studs or wheel bearings.

Probably… I gave up for the night and let PB Blaster set in so I will check tomorrow
. The old one is going some work to knock out but the new one is in the freezer. I’ll work on getting that out first.

It happens with a car this old that started on the east coast. All part of the adventure

Do you have access to the other side? If so, find a socket or extension that will fit in there and tap it out. Order a replacement either way, as some of those sensors can be very sensitive. I know BMW wheels speed sensors die if you look at them wrong.

I’m out of the loop, why are they killing oppo? Is all of Kinja kill or they just axing us?

It’s very tight, I did eventually find a socket I can get back there. It’s a weird angle to hit but I think I can make it work. Left everything to soak in PB Blaster for the night.

Wow that’s stupid, as if the FCC is gonna care if someone posts a copyrighted picture here.

You sir are a damn genius and savior! I got the old out and new in without touching the ABS sensor all in like 20 minutes this morning.
