I posted a few weeks ago about ACC when I first started playing it. It’s quite good from a sim perspective and has much better visuals than iRacing. With the cold weather happening and a puppy to take care of I’ve been playing more of it lately.

The AI and single player is rather decent but multiplayer is always where the good stuff is in race sims. Good against the living is always more fun than good against remotes. So I got all my track medals and waded into the public lobbies to get my safety rating up high enough to get into the competition servers.

Public lobbies are all short sprint races with varying degree of goodness. Sometimes it’s a fun race, sometimes there’s turn 1 chaos, and sometimes this happens.

Getting onto the competition servers is a much more serious business experience. The racers are better, cleaner, and the events are longer with variable conditions. I’ve done 20 competition server races so far and I collected 3 of the most interesting ones to do debrief videos of. So if you’re bored and need some competitive content to consume, here they are:

I’ve been concentrating on the 911 since I’m a sucker for 9000 RPM redlines. It handles well and seems to be a pretty middle of the road car, it’s not great at any individual track or aspect but does everything well. Nice starter car.

I’ll probably move onto the Audi R8 next to rep the brand of my daily driver.

In all I find ACC to be a very good sim to get into while it still has players. The community is no where near as large as something like Gran Turismo, Forza, or iRacing, but it’s competitive, pretty, and delivers a good experience.

That dude has no chill. He took a terrible line through the first corner, compromising everyone and making everyone slow, and then he moves across on you and spins himself and is mad at you?

Yeah that's the worst behavior I've seen by far. Craziest thing is the game has a radar so he should know where the back of his car is.
