So after 10 years I’m finally done with my BMW after procrastinating all summer I couldn’t leave it any longer, with Saturday expecting 30-62cm (11-24 inches) of snow.
My co-worker has been jokingly talking about buying my car all summer, the topic came up again today and I offered it for $500 and he said sure but that he would have to make payments on it. So after going on a test drive and showing him around the car my neighbor walks up and starts asking about the car. I tell him I’m selling it to my co-worker, my neighbor says if my co-worker won’t buy it he will, my co-worker says he was okay with not buying because he didn’t really have the money. We started talking about his GMC Sp rint he took over from his grandfather and then we went in to sign a bill of sale and he e-transfered payment. He is going to pick up the spare part and original set of wheels on Sunday.
So now this weight is lifted off my shoulders and I won’t have to pay for winter storage, won’t have to pay for renewing my insurance package policy next month, won’t have to worry about this car anymore.

Good ending, sounds like your neighbor had been doing a little lurking of his own, eh?

As a current owner of a car in long-term storage: I feel ya on the burden and the significant appeal of getting that off your shoulders. Well done!

He said he was waiting to meet me some time apparently.

I guess you could call him a longtime lurker of Longtime Lurker.

What car would that happen to be?

Good development. Someone who would have to make payments on a $500 car can’t really afford to own that car anyway. It’s found a better owner.

Congrats. 325
is?
$500 really is it’s correct value? Seems low even taking into account the rust in CB’
s photos.

1986 325ES with 315,000km if I had sold it in August or September I could have probably got between $1500-2500 for it, but I procrastinated till winter.

I’ve got an 87 325is, same color with no rust but faded paint and trashed interior. I
would’ve bought yours for interior parts!

2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i with an EZ36 H-6 swap and RWD conversion. My track car. My broken automotive love of my life...

You could even call it a happy ending.

You should post about that here. Sounds interesting. I don't recognize the engine. Is that a Porsche powerplant? Not many H6s around. And RWD conversion sounds interesting. Does that liven up the handling?

It’s Subaru’s (last?) H6 variant. Was in the Tribeca and Outback-H6, and Legacy Spec-B elsewhere if memory serves me right. Around 260hp and assymetric connecting rods like the BRZ/FR-S FA powerplants.
Yeah, I did the RWD conversion (it’s just a splined spool that takes the place of the center differential thereby negating any output to the front axles) before the engine swap because 170hp is much better served only going to two wheels when you’re running high grip tires. :)

I would very much like to see pictures of this beast. Did you manage to get much track driving in with it or was it one of those projects that was never finished?
I totally forgot about the Tribeca's 6 cylinder. Subaru is so well known for their 4s I forgot about their 6s.

I basically had one solid year running the car on track (covering both pre- and post- engine swap). It doesn’t look like much because I actively tried to keep the whole package looking pretty stock, but I’ll put something about it up here in the future.

All’s well that ends well. Less stress for the crazy winter that’s about to come through.
