The description makes it sound like the gas powered generator had to run all the time for brakes, steering, and HVAC. I guess that makes it officially a hybrid, though the term hybrid wasn’t yet in use for gasoline-electric powertrains yet, and meant something quite different for cars at the time. It says it could also provide a slight recharge to basically limp the vehicle to a charging station if the battery got too low.
Wonder what engine they used? I'm picturing something really small, like Briggs & Stratton, but, I guess, it could have still be a small 4-cylinder car engine of some sort, but doesn't sound like it. Even something like the Iron Duke could have still moved a Fleetwood down the road on its own, albeit slowly.
