An unpublished farewell

The evening of February 2nd, 2020, I composed this draft, bidding everyone farewell. I left instructions in a note for my family so that if I died during the pandemic, they could post this on my behalf.

Of course, since then the rules on images changed, so they probably wouldn’t have figured out how to publish it. Even finding it would have been a challenge. Kinja isn’t easy for the untutored.

Anyway, now I get to bid Kinja itself farewell. And maybe many of you; I still haven’t settled on a new home. I’m removing all the sappy (and angry) text from the original draft, but here are the photos I chose in that moment of concern.

Damn... take care of yourself, my friend . I’m very sad to read that you were that scared of losing your life to this virus, and very honored/humbled that you included the community at OPPO in your final requests. Damn...

Beautiful photos. (I’m not crying. I’m not.) I hope all your stuff gets cross-posted somewhere. I’ve enjoyed reading a lot of the longer stories you’ve been bringing out.

Thanks.  If I get active at the Hyphen I’m sure I’ll re-use some of my favorite photos. I don’t generate ones I love nearly fast enough not to pull them out multiple times.
