I’m kind of tempted to go check them out to see if they are just a family run business that isn’t looking to price gouge people or if they are a shady bu y-here-pay- here lot that makes all their money on loans and not on the actual cars.

I’m guessing the latter though.

I agree with the Dr. It’s that cheap because ....it’s an ‘01 A4 with almost 200K miles and resides in the salt-o-sphere.

Really? It seems to have a really clean body if a bit high on miles. Around here it feels like anything under $3k is a either a POS, extremely high miles (like 225k+,  or something just really bland like an Impala or an Altima.

Appearances aren’t always what they seem.   ;)   I’d be curious to see what the underbody condition is.  I think I spy some light rust at the rear corner of the driver’s front wheel well.

Those were dirt cheap here too (probably still), there was some decent looking ones for like 1500-2500€ like 2 years ago, i was considering buying one but they seemed a bit too short on performance to my liking .

The 30 valves V6 is considered quite reliable and it’s not a torquey engine so i wouldn ’ t worry too much for the ZF 5HP either.
