Entertaining article. Nothing new really from other Cannonball runs. I think I would have used a GTR. It’s big, it’s fast and can deal with different road and weather conditions. What car would you use?

A GTR is too distinguishable. People remember seeing one. You need something non-descript, like an AMG, Audi, or other super sedan. One of the teams, IIRC, rebadged an AMG E63 into a toyota or something. It looks almost pedestrian to the average viewer.

Souped up F150 would be non-descript enough.  Even carry the fuel in the bed.

Ford Focus RS with Mountune go fast parts, LSD, sequential gearbox and upgraded tires. 400+ hp, AWD with OK fuel effiency for open roads.

Find one in Magnetic Gray, sawp  on  cosmetic valences for a base Focus. Now you have a 400hp rally car that looks like a an autotragic rental car.

A really lumpy Mustang that kind of looks like a weirdly proportioned Fiata? A Mustang isn’t a bad idea considering how common they are but I’d probably go for a German autobahn warrior with the go fast trim removed.

I’m not sure if most people know what a GTR is. They might mistake it for an Altima. But I really chose GTR because I want one.

I had 4 adults in my TT. I just think there’s not enough seat cushion to absorb all the farts that 25 hours of Oreos, Mountain Dew, and cigarettes are gonna generate.

The fast guys tend to prefer larger luxury sedans. That’s good fart cover. There is  Less FRI (fart region of influence) overlap in a larger vehicle.

No idea. I’ve had mine over 110 but I’m sure there’s a limiter in there somewhere that would need to be removed.
They’re almost 300 hp, so I would think they should be able to hit 140-150 without a limiter.

According to this , the 2018s can hit 140 sans limiter. No idea if that’s true, you test it for us

Ugh, I love how these “reporters” have to find a hook of some kind... and the best this guy could find (on a trip that’s been hitting speeds well over 100 for extended stretches?) was the Fruit Cop Ag Stop outside Needles?

I’ve been through that one at least 30 times in the last year— have yet to exchange a word with the bored Fruit Cop Ag Stop Staff, much less a “trunk search”.
