26 might've been possible once you were actually in the optional overdrive gear...but getting there would have buggered up the numbers something shocking.

I’m sure these are manufacturer’ s numbers that were never independently verified. Also, the EPA testing method was different back then and I want to say the highway speed they used for testing was 55 mph.

Having owned a full size van with a 6 cylinder engine, these numbers are only possible while coasting down steep grad es. Go ing up that same pass with a pop up camper will net you single digit fuel economy.
