What this is is pure nightmare fuel. No movie could ever replicate this immerse experience into a place of pure evil. The game is simple: Find the bathtub in the 3d tour of a real estate listing for an unassuming looking brick building.
Guys, you have to click this link. I don’t usually read The AV Club but one of their !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is just insane and worthy of posting here.

I don’t want to spoil the surprise by posting any additional photos here but I’ll put some in the comments. It took me a long time to find the bathtub. That is, if you can call it a bath tub. The prize is worth it.
Just navigating the twisted labyrinthine depths of this building straight out of your deepest darkest fears is incredible. I thought surely it couldn’t be that maze-like. Then I started actually trying to figure out where in the building I was.
At first I thought it might have been a food pantry but the considerable porn stash doesn’t seem to bear that out. Then I thought maybe it was some sort of Ebay seller’s wild fever dream. Help me, Oppo, WHAT WAS THIS PLACE?
Just how many people lived and worked within the walls of this place? It had to be at least 6 I think. And what work exactly was done here? I’m obsessed!
Oppo M ichael found a link to the backstory. Seems to have been a DVD, book, and CD fencing operation at the least.

Are these centrifuges?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:22 |

4 workstations, at minimum
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:24 |

Based on the CD buffers and copious boxes of DVDs I’d say it’s an old bootleg version of Netflix?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:24 |

CD buffers as it turns out
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:25 |

What the fuck? Are they running an EBAY store out of that shit hole?

Why is everyone so creeped out by my house?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:26 |
|
Yeah... that was... wow.
It was even creepier in “dollhouse” mode. Obviously.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:27 |
|
Yeah it’s got to be, just 4 people taking orders and shipping DVDs and some books, and refurbishing them with those buffers
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:27 |

Some folks tried to compete with early Netflix, I’d say this is one of those.

I never found the tub
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:28 |

Did find the urinal though
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:29 |

These are the centrifuges.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:29 |

Looks like they were counterfeiting cds and dvds.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:30 |
|
Given the stacks and stacks of CDs / DVDs, I think those are disk cleaning machines for polishing out scratches.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:31 |
|
I suspect more but there are several desks scattered throughout the CD and DVD storage areas. I saw at least 6 sleeping spaces.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:32 |
|
Key to finding the tub: Find the porn, keep going.
Also, t hat wasn’t always a tub. That’s a baptismal pool from an old church, o ften hidden under a removable section of floor in the altar area.
Regardless, yowza.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:33 |
|
This sort of fits, I guess? Too lazy to edit
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:33 |
|
That’s my best guess too. The fact that all the cardboard boxes have the DVD cover taped to them seems to seal it. But their organization seems so nonsensical! And how much demand really is there for all that old crap? It just seems like a very dark place I have no wish to enter, ever.
Tip: The “ bathtub” is by the porn.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:34 |
|
Want to explain this one?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:36 |
|
Not especially, no. I suspect maybe they used to be divided when the building was a church. Too bad the sticky notes aren’t legible.
And the undivided urinal/toilet room is also pretty strange. Seems to not have a lock too.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:37 |
|
Yes, it was indeed a former baptism pool converted to what seems to be a three person shower, prison style. I don’t want to know what has gone on there.
And like yeah, they put the porn room right next to the shower. Hmmmmmm.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:37 |
|
This can’t possibly sell for more than land value. Probably even less than that since the thing needs to be demo’d.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:38 |
|
Find the porn.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:38 |
|
It took work to even find the room leading to the tub. I hope to never meet the previous home owner.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:38 |
|
Well I don’t think those would be very good for cleaning DVDs.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:39 |
|
I’ve never seen a house with a urinal before
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:39 |

If only this place were that clean.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:39 |
|
I’d pay money to not have to deal with that hot mess.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:44 |
|
My wife sent me the link to that tour this morning ... It’s a hell of a thing.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:47 |
|
The tub is in a small room off the back of the upstairs storage area. The tub itself is as weird as the rest of the house.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:47 |
|
I looked at this thing earlier today. I think I probably have some infectious disease from just viewing the pictures.
I did end up finding the bathtub. I couldn't tell you how I found it. I'd be screwed if I was in that place and a fire broke out
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:48 |
|
UGH. At least clean the damn place out before creating the 3D walkthrough.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:48 |
|
It was about 10 minutes of WTFs , holy craps, and good lords.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:51 |
|
Shuttering the business, likely, and not wanting to deal with that. I’d say it would cost $10k to bring in labor and dumpsters for every thing in that house
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:52 |
|
Pretty much, yeah.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:53 |
|
Man, I didn’t even notice that. What a trip.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:54 |
|
That’s why people moved to streaming instead.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:57 |
|
Former baptism pool it seems. Weird place for it and even weirder arrangement of shower heads. Wonder if it is a two person shower. And there probably used to be an entrance on the other side.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:58 |
|
If it means my movies don’t have to pass through a place like that I’m fine with it.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 13:59 |
|
I would suspect that’s a little low given the hazardous working conditions. Selling DVDs, CDs, and books online better have been profitable because that is no way to live.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:01 |
|
And it is just the biggest fire hazard I’ve ever seen. Despite the fire alarm system and many exit doors I saw no sprinklers (because it’s a house) and most exit doors were blocked by mountains of garbage. I bet it got shut down by the fire marshal. Man, what a job that must be.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:02 |
|
It’s a piece of art, really. Because you would have trouble fabricating a more wretched place full of despair, misery, and complete bewilderment that grounded in reality.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:02 |
|
See this is my problem. Most people see a dump, I see potential. Gut the entire building, grade a driveway to the basement of the “second” building and put a garage door in. Instant large heated garage. Gut the upstairs of the “second” building to make into a workshop and/or man cave. Redo the “first” building to be a normal house and voila. Neat looking house with a very cool and unique layout. The actual buildings look to be in good shape, there’s just shit everywhere.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:03 |
|
Most buyers would look at that first room, say “nope!” and never give the listing a second thought. They would recoup that $10k and then some.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:06 |
|
Oh man we discussed this monstrosity on the OPPO Discord at length last night.
Why is there a group shower/baptism room, and why is it after the porn room?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:06 |
|
50/50 chance the people running the joint were shipped with the product.
Figure 3 or 4 days day-laborers plus maybe... 8 30 yard dumpsters at $1k each ?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:07 |
|
I didn’t figure you for the type that likes dirty movies, but I’m not going to judge.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:09 |
|
Found it. Near the porn of course.
In any event, this place is amazing. It just keeps going... Guessing it’s being sold after being shut down for violating every bit of fire code, counterfeiting, and/or slave labor.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:10 |
|
$375,000???????
Fuck. No.
EDIT: my favorite comment from the FP post was:
“ Maybe the bath tub was the friends we made along the way.”
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:11 |
|
One DVD table has a $0.29 sign on it, which sounds about right for DVDs.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:12 |
|
No, not like that. Not physically dirty. Or morally dirty either.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:13 |
|
Sochi style team toilets!
The generous interpretation is that that bathroom used to be a women’s restroom (the one next door has a urinal and a toilet), but the dividers were removed at some point (all the other bathrooms seems to still have their stalls.)
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:13 |
|
Presuming anything here was above-board, but if the “business” is insolvent they probably don’t have money to clean it out. Looks like they bought it for $20k, probably from/as a church, and converted to this monstrosity.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:14 |
|
I mean, it’s clearly not a house. Sure the exterior looks like ti was once a house, but those restrooms say this was converted from residential long ago) People might have been living there, but this is clearly a commercial building.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:15 |
|
I don’t know how anyone would willing live in such a place unless they were forced to so IDK.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:16 |
|
It’s an E-sports training facility
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:16 |
|
I’m pretty sure this place will just need to be demolished anyway. The real question is why even bother with the 3D tour?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:17 |
|
This place has significantly more than one.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:17 |
|
Well I don’t really think this was above board. You don’t need a business license to Ebay for a living and the fire protection measures were probably installed by the church, not the previous owners, seeing as how they blocked up all the exit doors.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:18 |
|
They would give me $0.29 to take a DVD? Not a bad deal but I bet I could hold out for more. That’s not a sustainable business model.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:19 |
|
Oh yeah that was a good one.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:19 |

Oh, thanks, I’ll put that in the article. I’m honestly surprised that it took them that long to find. And I’m also not surprised no one wanted their stolen copies of decade old movies back.

WOWZERS
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:29 |
|
Yeah, my appraiser spidey sense was tingling really hard on this. I pulled the 2007
street view from Google, and it used to be a church, so this is a commercial building through and through. I’d be very interested in how this property is zoned, and if it is zoned commercial, than I’d be hard pressed to say the highest and best use would be as a single family residence.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:30 |

I think the internet publicity that could extend to the agent’s other properties. I think it worked.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:32 |
|
I think it used to just be a ranch house but then a church used it for a while and had a preschool run out of it too. Then some wretched excuse for a human bought it, probably after a long vacancy, and turned it into the rat infested fire hazard you see now. Not that it was set up to be a particularly useful building to anyone but another church but still.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:33 |
|
Didn’t notice that before but glad you pointed it out. It’s way creepier that way.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:36 |

Hey, like I said, no judgements. You don’t need to explain anything to me.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:38 |
|
While I seriously doubt he didn’t know he was buying stolen property occasionally, I’m sure he wasn’t coordinating it. He was just a broker who lived like a pig. And presumably somehow got several other people to live like that in his disgusting rat’s den.
I presume he was charged given all the merchandise is still in the house while it is being sold. They even left personal effects like tablets and laptops behind as well as toiletries and some expensive looking TVs and computers.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:39 |

Im stuck in the DVD isle. I feel like im going in circles. I think I’ll set up camp for the night.
Also it makes me feel dirty, I need a bath.... if I can find the bathtub!
Edit: OMFG I found more DVDs upstairs ! I give up, nuke it from orbit.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:39 |

I presume the same. Quite the interesting find, one of the more fun posts I’ve seen in a while!

You do not want to wash off in the “bathtub.” As in it is a converted baptism pool with three showerheads behind a mountain of porn.
Poor poor you. I can’t imagine having to spend the night there.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:47 |

I feel sorry who ever buys that.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:49 |

Why are there dual toilets down stairs? Why so many briefcases? WTF?! Who lived in this? Fucking hell this is a confusing and large space used now for hording so much crap.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:55 |
|
It’s pretty much a demolition job at this point. The two buildings are set up so awkwardly and would be such nightmares to bring up to code for what will still be a crappy cheaply constructed converted residence that it is just worth the land value minus demolition costs. The value of the property would improve if it happened to burn down.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 14:58 |
|
Supposedly it was used for fencing DVDs and selling them online but I’m not convinced people weren’t forced to work here against their will. Just look at the blocked exits, terrible working conditions, and lack of uncovered windows not glazed etc. I find it hard to believe that people worked here willingly and there are like 6 bedrooms that were recently occupied.
The two toilet room is sketch but not as sketch as the three showerhead converted baptism pool behind the porn stash.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 15:03 |

Edit: Even further reading (why do I do this to myself???) shows that only a few items from 2014 were stolen and confiscated. The rest of the rats nest stayed and his business appears to have continued.
From what I read, that is not the stolen merch from 2014 that is still in the house....the current occupants were running an Ebay wholesale operation.
It’s easy to spot many items and things that are date well after 2014 right up to 2019.
I can’t imagine they would arrest/prosecute someone and not remove the stolen items. Then again, anything is possible in that ‘house’.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 15:08 |
|
I wonder how much of the condition of the house carries over from the former occupant. It appears multiple people were living there in 2014 but I’d guess even more lived in it until recently. Perhaps more confusing is why the merchandise was left in the house and why the occupants vacated in such a hurry they didn’t even take their computers, TVs, tablets, and other personal effects.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 15:13 |
|
Not sure if you saw my edit, but I believe it’s the same guy who is still actively running a business there, with other random employees/relatives /kidnap victims. They just left the house for the realtor walk- through is my guess....hence the peanut butter, pizza, laptops, etc.
We need feet on the ground!!!!
![]() 10/27/2020 at 15:20 |
|
I actually just realized that. Because the computers in the office have an email and Ebay pulled up on them. And everything else looks like the rats just left the nest for a while to come back. I wonder if they are planning on moving to a bigger building or if they were shut down by the county.
