Well this weekend we tore into the new project. Did out first super close go through of the pickup to see what is going to be needed. It will need to be rewired. Went to toss a new ignition switch in as we didnt get a key and discovered they wired most of the truck with the same colored wire and no tags to tell what is what. So hot wired the motor to see if it would turn over and it did, but never got any fire or the fuel pump to work. Didn’t care to tinker and get it running as the motor and trans is coming out. So we then pulled the motor. Had it out in about a hour as there wasn’
t much to unhook. Helps when your just cut the wires as we are going to rewire the whole truck. Now the next we will tackle is to decide on the transmission we want to use and then start mocking up the new setup to see what will be needed to fit it.

You: may need to be rewired
You:*cuts wires willy billy*
Me: well now it definitely needs to be rewired
I'm looking forward to what you can do with this one. That Toyota truck engine looks so small even in the front of a 30s Ford.

its about the same size as the original 4 cylinder motors that these pickups had. The 265 small block is gonna fill that bay now, but luckily you don’ t have to mash on the firewall to make them fit. Main goals for winter is to get all the drivetrain and chassis work done and then next spring do the bodywork and paint. This one will probably take longer to do as we are not in as big of hurry as we were on my C10.

I’m digging the new project. Looking forward to watching it all unfold. I know the posts that you put together for the C10 didn’t write themselves. I think I speak for many in saying that we appreciate and enjoy your thorough documentation.
Meanwhile my projects are defined by years and not just winter and spring. S peaking of which I need to put some projects back together to clear up some space... for more projects!
