Should be fun. I told my wife she’s not allowed to record me.

Also, my son and I went to DPS this morning so he could get his license. He’s driving to school by himself this morning, first time alone in the car.

Busy day.

Have fun. I got all four of mine removed at once. I’m told I hit on the dental assistant.

Nice. Removal of those pesky inhibitions....

I was given hydrocodiene. The label instructions were very liberal in nature. “Take one or two every four to six hours” So naturally I took two every four. Awesome.....but then It was such a drug rollercoaster of nearly asleep in the recliner and then after 3 hours , pain, wait an hour. take 2 more. repeat?....nope.

One tablet every three hours kept me at a nice low grade buzz permanently.

Then, when I ran out, I had a thought. “How can I get a refill of a non-refillable prescrip......oh....uh-oh. Ohhkayyy so that’s how it happens.

The first one is a classic. Never had seen the 2nd one. Can you imagine how much the dental assistants laugh during their days at work?!

Hopefully your wife disobeys your order. LOL

Big step for your son! Hope he manages to avoid any incidents in his first few months and years.

I didn’t get put under to have mine removed.  Took longer for the novacane to set in than it did to crack them up and extract them.  I was out in less than an hour and drove myself home.  Saved something like $1200.

Me too. He is 18 now, and the extra time and maturity should make a big difference.

You’re the first person who has recounted such an experience. I’m hoping mine is similar.

I’m going to try my best  to avoid the opioids.

Yeah, I’d think so. I wonder what my son’s thoughts on the matter will be in a couple years. Every kid is different, of course, but it will be interesting to see if he wants to get his license as soon as possible or decides to wait a while. I’ve already had him out in the field learning the clutch on my truck.

I think whether you’re put under may depend on when the tooth is taken out. I had all 4 of mine removed before they had even developed roots, let alone broken through my gums. So it was very much a surgical procedure to cut into my gums and remove them.

My face also swelled up like a chipmunk for a few days.

Had all four done at once, I was in college and had no money so I went to a local dental school where students did the work for free. That was by far one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made.

Mine were fully developed, but also had cavities in them from being soft tissue impacted partially.

The driving factor was saving money and also not having anyone to drive me home after.  I only had minor swelling, but it did bleed a bit when I changed out the gauze.

Not having to be put under prevents a lot of loopy videos lol.

I’m thinking I may need to have mine taken out. The bottom left is starting to poke through and it’s a pocket that collects food scraps and it’s quite annoying. But first I’d have to go to the dentist and uhh, it’s been quite a while. So I’ll need some other work done as well.

If you don’t, well, they were pretty nice.

I can second that.  (I only had two) Mine were removed one at a time as needed (my bite was such that they we’re really troublesome).  Just numbed up well with a local and then cracked and pulled.  It wasn’t bad.  I left with a prescription for the narcotics, but I never took them.  I hate the way hydrocodine makes me feel.  I was fine on high-dose ibuprofen, like 800mg 4x/day for a couple of days.

I finally started going to the dentist regularly in the last  three years. The first few visits after a lengthy hiatus from dental visits kind of suck. But as your teeth get cleaner, and your gums get healthier, it gets a lot easier. If your insurance will cover it, I highly recommend it.

OTC meds are what I plan to do.
