I’d say neither are Royal Protection Officers and neither are American tourists.

The guy in the suit is open collar with two buttons undone and no tie, not going to happen, plus he and the two next to him are smiling/laughing, again, not going to happen.

The guy in the tracksuit definitely isn’t American (lol, no bumbag, aka ‘fanny-pack’), looks to be engrossed in a pasty or similar, American tourists rarely experience the pleasure of a good (or even average) pasty or bake.

Lol.

Seriously, from experience, Royal Protection Officers rarely stand out unless they are meant to. The Royal family, prior, to the pandemic were frequent visitors to my county and city.

You had to really look hard to notice even police marksmen on top of certain buildings.

Jesus, you always cut right to it, sir.

Flashback from The Falklands Campaign. “ We were pinned down in the pub and the Argies were coming with all they had...”

I love a good pasty or bake.

I had two cornbeef bakes from Greggs, earlier today. Fantastic.

I love a steak or chicken bake too, especially warm ones, where the gravy/sauce is trying to keep out as you bite into it, oh yes.

While his size would lean toward American, that outfit is decidedly not. (Also, I haven’t seen a fanny pack in years.)

Next time you’re in Tempe hit up Cornish Pasty. Really good pastys and beer selection.

I think that he is just contemplating the kind of food his brother might be forced to eat for the rest of his life, hence the disdain .

And in the background we have Hugh Grant at a ridiculous looking lamppost.

And a random guy smoking a crack pipe (only this kind of person would wear a purple sweater and cross a street at the same time).

The guy on the red and white sign with the bowtie is the Royal Protection Officer.

My son’s living nearby, so will go try it the next time I’m stopping off.

We like Harlow’s and Perfect Pear, both on University west of campus... and sadly both lacking pasty options.

That's actually a marker for the UK Zebra Crossing. Not sure if it lights up but it's like that for visibility.

We always found it odd that the U.S. called it a fa nny pack, apparently it’s because the U.S. calls their arse, fannies, but mostly wore them around the front, it was especially funny to us as in the U.K. a ‘fanny’, is another term for vagina.

Yeah, his poor damn brother lives nearby. Don’t know how they are getting along, so far from London, from home, from the great weather and the adoring press in the UK . Oh, wait, this just in...

... Maybe they’ll manage after all.

I agree, the Americans that can afford to cross the pond would not be wearing a track suit in public.   Jeans or shorts maybe,  but not a track suit.

Looking closer at his feet and the shoulder of the jacket. It looks like he’s wearing shoes as opposed to trainers (U.S. sneakers), and the shoulder area looks like it’s a casual corporate work jacket (say delivery company, garage, etc...).

But ye’, definitely a Brit. It just screams, ‘I’m on my work break, just nipped out for a pasty and scoffed it on the way back so I can get back to work, make it look like I’m working while finishing my break with a cuppa’.

Funny thing is that the fanny pack in French is “une banane” (a banana).

Lol. That is pretty funny.

What is a banana in a funny pack?

Une banane, dans une  banane!?

Oh cool.

Les Tuche 3 also stars Isabelle Nanty from one of my all time favourite films, Amelie.

Well, this one is definitely not as good but at least the main character is the proud owner of a R21 Nevada !
