interesting - you can hear the new c8's coming, even without the performance exhaust package , but I’ve never noticed a particularly loud new Supra. Wonder if the different frequencies play a part...

It mostly seems to be the burble/pop at the end. Like a mini-explosion which makes the db record louder.

It’s the krackles & pops - higher peak decibel.
Sustained decibel level is higher in the Corvette, I think (or the lower tones make you think that).

I want the Supra more I think, not because of noise though.

Idk that C8 is nice though.

If you put an exhaust on both, I think I know which one would be louder though.

Well technically the Corvette had an exhaust on it. It was the optional “louder” performance exhaust.

You know what I mean....
![]() 10/20/2020 at 14:50 |

Well I don’t do you mean if the Supra had an exhaust? or if the Corvette had a better one?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 14:51 |

I meant aftermarket.

Gotcha, I bet a Borla would sound good on it.

Ok?

This: average should be the answer

I want to be your friend.

Yeah, but peak is what matters at some tracks.
Just
90 dB at Laguna Seca!

If you take the exhaust off both... which one is louder?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:41 |

Oh, absolutely. Context is key. In the context of a track like laguna secs you’re right. In the context of a car driving by you on the street, the Vette will most likely sound/be louder.

I remember there was an article here about s guy in a s2000 chasing down and passing a mclaren (Senna, maybe?). Half was due to the guy in the mclaren taking it easy on early laps and learning the car, the other half was him cruising past the station to keep it below the decibel limit
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:47 |

yep, they both have positive sounds
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:47 |

average?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:47 |

so many stock cars wont make that!

That’s funny/sad...
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:54 |

Eh, probably not average. Mode, I guess? If the supra is at 90db 98% of the time, and pops and crackles its way to 108 in the other 2%, I'm not sure I'd call it louder than a car that's always at 106db. Yeah, sometimes it is; most times its not.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:55 |

Idk because the Supra might be considered louder with the pops and bangs sounding like gun shots.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 15:55 |

see in that case what is the point of a db limit, people are going to know where the db meters are and slow up for them.

it is pretty funny haha

I love work arounds. The politics of db limits.
