So, I keep running into this red Venue with a 5-speed.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I don’t know why, but this thing keeps grabbing my attention. My husband really wants one, but he wants a gray one that’s completely loaded and with the CVT. As for me, while I don’t need a new vehicle, I could get this with a smaller payment. There is something about the Venue that just rings true with me.
What should I do?

I think it’s cool
Yeah it’s cool you can get a new crossover thing with manual yeah!
And every car now is fully loaded, unless you want a sunroof, but Webasto can help you out with that

Price seems good. Manual trans is a plus, except at resale and /or trade in. Ten year warrant y, good fuel economy and decent amount of space. Buy it if you like it.

That Venue is, in fact, a 6-speed manual.
Honestly, for $14k, you can’t go wrong. It’d be a fun yet highly usable daily.

I’d love a sunroof, but that means a CVT with a Venue. I know my husband liked the one he drove, but I never got a chance to drive it.

LOL, typo.
My favorite body style is 5-door, and this is one. I don't have anything against my truck, but it is old. Having something with a warranty is appealing in my old age.

The Venue is Hyundai Accent-based, so it’s basically a tall Accent. I like Accents, and am very upset they’ve killed it in Canada with the Venue as the replacement...but...as it’s Accent-based....I guess it wouldn’t be much different.
It’s one of the few small CUVs I actually like, and the fact that it comes with a manual still as an option is a big plus to me. The styling isn’t bad to my eyes either! :)

Getting a sunroof means you also must get a CVT!? What kind of hell world is this?!
It’s like saying you can have ice cream or chocolate topping but not both.

That’s what Webasto is for :o)
Buy the manual Venue then get an aftermarket sunroof. The dealer probably knows someone that in
stalls them, and they can even make the arrangements with the installer.

Dude, a newer model year car for used car price? A fun manual? A big trunk? A nice color? I’d do it. It’s no sportscar, nor is it 4WD/AWD (which may be the big turnoff), but if you’re just looking for an A to B car with decent gas mileage for a car of it s size and modern features, I see no faults with this option.

Drove an auto a couple weeks ago back to back with a Kona and I thought the Venue was more fun. A manual should theoretically be a good choice!

Don’t buy it if it’s not for you. Get your husband to test drive it?

I actually really wanted one but never got to drive, a new car (even a venue) was just too far of a stretch for me. But my wife's kia rio has been great, I'm a Hyundai/genesis/kia/Mazda guy for sure.

Clearly you need to buy it.

14k for any new car is a screaming deal. Love the red too!

It bugs me so much. The only option I ever want is a sunroof, and you always have to go through hoops for them.

I really want to drive it. If it’s halfway decent off the line, I think I would pull the trigger.

They're such a good deal brand new I se no reason not to.

I’ll be interested to hear your take if you at least go check it out and take it for a spin!

I totally get it. There seems to be a perception that nobody would want the sportier/faster/lighter option coupled with a sunroof. I say the opposite - those options are made for fun, a sunroof is too. If you think you’re measuring splits on public roads and need to save that extra 10kg, you’re kidding yourself. Particularly in a Venue!

My husband drove them both. He really didn't like the Kona. I admit I was a bit surprised about that.

He won’t want a manual.
I don't know why, I just keep finding myself drawn to it. I really like the styling.

I’m really tempted to. I’ll let you know, but it won’t be before Tuesday.

Have you considered spending twice as much and getting a new GTI?
![]() 10/18/2020 at 21:16 |

FWIW a manual GDI is probably ten times more reliable than the CVT at this price point.

No, but I have considered spending 3 times as much on a V8 4x4 truck I don't need. Does that count?

buy it

The biggest thing I’m afraid of is that it’ll be like the Cube was. That car was completely devoid of personality and I didn’t notice it right away. This Venue has similar horsepower numbers.

Seems reasonable!
