On the other hand... Snow represents a logistical nightmare for my job, with one snow day adding literal weeks of stress. And my only vehicle is a motorcycle....

Last year it snowed here the first week of November, which is by far the earliest I’ve ever seen it. But then it only snowed one more time all winter, which was  fine with me.

Last year we didn't even get one hour of snow sticking to the ground here in Georgia. I really want some actual snow this year (like maybe a half inch?).

Same here. Winter makes my job so much harder. And honestly I was dreading it coming. But yesterday when we got snow I had a smile on my face. Still took the Yamaha to work. :)

It snows  in Spokane but it’s not that bad. Go to Sand Point and it’s a whole different ball game.

Yep, enough elevation and exposure to different weather patterns. I think I read some weather models predicting several chances of snow in Sand Point over the next week.

I hate snow. It makes the already shitty drivers around Van even worse and I’d say a 1/3 dicker about driving on 3 season tires all year. So even when you have winter tires, Cheapo McDickhead is slow in front of you because he has no traction.

I wish winter rated tires were mandated here like out East. Anyone found driving in the snow with All Seasons or Summers gets impounded and then VI for tires in addition to void insurance if at fault crash . Because if I can get impounded driving for 5okph over on a hot sunny day on the highway with no traffic in complete control then people should be impounded for 30kph below in the snow barely in control.

Thrusday I’m throwing mine on. The temp is about to drop below 10C

Congrats. I needed a new job, found something decent here, so far, so good, I’m optimistic . Marginal pay cut, but better bennies, and lower cost of living, especially in terms of housing - rents here would make your head spin. My place here would be at least 3K in Seattle or Bellevue.

It’s been over a decade since I’ve been through Spokane. I’m guessing it’s changed a lot. Cangratulations, that sounds like a major upgrade. Did you take the Fintail over?

Yeah, huge growth, and I think WFH reality is making that even greater. The city has always been underrated IMO - it isn’t as batshit socio-politically as areas to the east, and the passage of time will make that even more apparent.

I actually drove the fintail over last Saturday. I was a little anxious, but the old dear didn’t miss a beat - I took Highway 2 though, didn’t want to deal with 90.

You can still get perfectly livable places with garages here in the 200K range, lesser for cheaper. Right now I am renting, ~1100 sq ft I think, 2018 build, nice finishes (full sized Whirlpool stainless appliances, de rigu eur granite, and full size Samsung W&D, bamboo soft close cabinets, huge tiled glass shower in the master bath, polished concrete floors, central heat and air, kind of an industrial feel with exposed ductwork, balcony with decent view, I’ll just say it is under $1500, and you can get normal apartments much cheaper.
