There’s the Cameron Peak fire. Edit: Apparently this is a new fire near Boulder.

Kinja'd!!!

Just a few minutes ago, we could see the flames, but the wind just shifted and covered them up. I’m sure the glow will be visible tonight. I feel so bad for those affected, and for anyone that has had to deal with the fire season across the country this year.

Woah, that vastness of the area affected is really revealed in those voluminous clouds blotting out an even bigger sky.

I took a walk yesterday and it was wild to see the smoke roll in. Now there are another 2-3 fires in that general area too? It’s  terrifying.

Smoke  in Phoenix proper today. Apparently the desert/chaparral just north of us is on fire. This is the fourth or fifth desert fire just outside the city this year which is pretty nuts. Bit cooler temps today sotting pretty at 95.

Wow, that new fire has blown up to 12,000 acres in about 12 hours. And the Cameron Park fire looks like it is going to blow straight into Loveland.

Stay safe out there, Colorado Oppos!

It’s nuts. They’ve been issuing evacuation orders quickly south and east first as a Voluntary Evac zone and then w ith the high winds the last few days, I watch them switch to Mandatory in a day.

Mandatory Evac zone has now reached Devil’s Backbone and Hwy 34 which is 3 miles from me. Given the terrain that the fire would have to cross , I can’t imagine I’m at risk but I’m making plans if I have to evacuate.

It’s all the same fire; Cameron Peak Fire. I’m 15 miles from the actual flames but the evacuation zones have reached 3 miles from my house.

Edit:  Just learned of a new Cal-Wood Fire in Left Hand Canyon near Boulder.  You’re probably seeing that smoke given the due West to East winds today.

Photos were yesterday (sun hasn’t set here yet today). I think it’s also from East Troublesome fire.

Good grief.  I’d only been paying attention to the Cameron Peak Fire since that’s the one just up the road from me.

No real monsoon this year. Had one storm, but it was spotty and didn’t drop much rain. I’m in central Phoenix and haven’t received much of anything. Cacti hav e been dying all over the V alley.

Ugh. Yeah, bone dry out t here in Sierra Vista— no surprise. Air had been clear most of the time, thankfully, but no monsoon showers.

Twitter is telling me Grand Lake is probably gone :(

I hope they have some luck today . This just sucks.

Holy sh!%!! I’m not on Twitter. Someone had just said on Nextdoor it went from 30K to 125K acres overnight and worried about Grand Lake. But info from random people can be questionable sometimes.

Sky is very dark and smoky over me right now. I thought it was the Cameron Peak fire but I bet it’s the Troublesome. yike yike yike

I was following some ham radio guy who is listening to fire crews. Helpful when the news either can’t or won’t keep tabs on it...still not totally reliable, but worrying enough I couldn’t really sleep last night. This is awful.

You’re in Denver! You shouldn’t have issues sleeping. I’ve been trying to think about evacuation plans!
