Mercedes has nothing left to prove in F1. But in endurance racing? Oh yes!

They only won once, in 1952. 

That’s 68 years ago.

They need to prove that their cars are fast even without leaving the track.

If Mercedes don’t play it’s card correctly in the next months it might disappear or end up Chinese , i am not certain that it’s the kind of investment they should be doing at the moment.

I would love to see what a works Mercedes team could do with the hypercar regulations.

In my imagination, this is where Wolff, Bono, and Hamilton would all end up after their 8th consecutive WDC/WCC F1 titles next year.

I know it ain’t gonna happen but it’s my imagination so whatever

They will have to pay billions in fines to the EU because at the moment their average fleet CO2 is one of the worst :

The only full y electric Mercedes, the EQC is selling about 5 times less in Europe than the Audi e-Tron.

And they are now one of the only “small” brand on it’s own (well, with Smart that might be doing it’s worst year in history excluding it’s first one ), and almost 20% of the group is already owned by other carmakers .

They were talking a few races ago on how cheap their F1 team was to fund due to all the sponsorship money and winnings. I think they said total 2019 cost “only” 20-30 mil, which could come out of the advertising budget. but if they are stapped for cash, it would be a quick way to make 500+million.

Also surprised vovlo is as good as it is.

Volvo sells almost only diesels, hybrid and electric cars now ; all ICE have been inline 4s for years .

Mercedes F1 Team might be beneficiary but it’s because they are dominating, i don’t see endurance being able to make ( a lot of) money or image .
