As someone who has lusted after an M715, this is intriguing. Also a much friendlier face than the new, constipated JLTV.

How resistant is the Jeep to below-surface explosives?

I’m all for the military using more COTS vehicles. And with the JLTV replacing the Humvee, it feels like there should be a lot of jobs performed by unarmored humvees that it would be stupid to do with what is more or less an MRAP, leaving an opening for more off- the- shelf vehicles with significant cost and weight savings.

As long as the Taliban doesn’t weaponize rust, we’re ok

I thought we already found the perfect light military vehicle

They can spend the extra on angry eyes for their Jeeps. Or you know, something actually useful.

Yeah, but is the radio finally waterproof? Asking for a friend.

For an u narmored flexible utility vehicle and troop transporter, that makes a ton of sense. Easy field repairs, highly adaptive, high reward per unit cost, and just an all around good vehicle. Perhaps lightly armored ones might be developed as well.

I can't determine if this is an actual military vehicle, or just inspired by/hoping to become a military vehicle.

Given the J8’s success, I’d say it’s a military vehicle waiting for an inevitable buyer.

Well there is no way I would go anywhere with that, it was nasty enough with some armor . Our guys would weld more metal into the doors.

Kinda of where I’m at with it. It’s not enough to take out on patrol but too much for puttering around a fob.
Not everything has to be an MRAP but this is just a weird half measure.

They often market this stuff to smaller countries for border patrols, there is a lot of stuff like this at the weapons shows. I think they hope some dictator likes it and buys a bunch.
