Sawing logs as an audible representation of snoring. The way back machine has activated.

Irish comedian, Dara O’Briain, once side.

‘If I knew how sleep deprived I'd be when I was older. I'd tell my younger self to tell my partner to stop and put it away, I want to bank some sleep for when I'm older'.

I never knew what sleep deprivation could be like until we brought our twins home from the hospital. The first few weeks were epically brutal.

Lol. You didn’t? What nobody told you?

Here in the U.K. one of the first things we say after being told they are pregnant is, ‘congratulations. That’s your sleep going to be messed up for some time after s/he is born, so enjoy your sleep while you can!’. Lol.

Were an odd bunch here. Lol.

Mom and dad might hump  but they are too damn tired chasing the kids around the house trying to keep them from killing them selves every 5 minutes.

Just showed my son - a recent college graduate - this one . “Classic!” was his response. I can recall resembling the dad all too well... and it doesn’t seem THAT long ago that he was that age.

A friend explained it this way. When you have your first kid, you wonder what you did with all the free time you had previously. When you have your second kid, you wonder what you did with all the free time you had when you only had one kid.

We say the same thing here, but being told it and actually experiencing it are two totally different things.

That’s what I tell people thinking about having kids. Yeah, you’ve heard it’s hard, but you’ll really have no idea until you have a kid. But you also will not understand how great they are until you have one, either.

Wait until you have 3 mobile young one . And try to go somewhere. And they all take off in different directions, like they had planned it in the car while you were driving to your destination! lol

The twins were our second round of parenting, so we knew. But it’s taking all the night wakings, all the nighttime feedings, all the nighttime crying and illnesses, and doubling them.

Exactly. And we had twins our second go round. I’m fond of saying, “We planned to have two kids, but instead we got two more.”

Ouch. Good luck both.

Take care, appreciate the quiet times when they happen.

Absolutely . Being a dad is the most difficult thing I have ever done, by a very wide margin. But it is also the most rewarding thing I have ever done, by that same margin . Nothing else in the world matters, when you get home and your kid comes running up to you with their arms open, screaming, “Dadddyyyyyyyy!!!!”
