How much is it to have an engine put in one of these pigs?

No picture of the interior and it’s not a Cooper S ...

Honestly, for the parts itself it’s probably worth it but if you are not going to replace the engine yourself it will most probably cost you less to find one with a working engine and a better color.

A thousand bucks is way too much for it to be worth it to part out IMO.

The correct price for the car is the scrap value. He can only get his $1000 by parting it out.

Depends on the engine.

CP. Seems like someone trying to get some money quick and dump it before the car takes even more in repair costs. Also no pictures of the interior and I bet that car has been abused (well we can actually tell due to the exterior and the blown engine).

You’re a Mini enthusiast correct? It’s S or GTFO for you?

My daughter and I have settled on a Mini as an acceptable first car for her/second car for the family . Does a new driver need the S?

The 1st gen non-S cars have bad transmissions, the CVT and the 5 speed will die, its almost certain...so the 6 speed you get in the S is a much better option.

If its a 2nd gen car, its gonna be bad in terms of reliability anyways, check with sony on Oppo here, he had a 2nd gen car.

Later 3rd gen cars are pretty solid from what I hear.

Probably not, but I knew this was the place to come to get a honest evaluation.

As a European i would say that a Cooper non-S is already quite nice for a first car and it will probably be more reliable (i am not a Cooper expert though) but i would also try to find one in better shape if it’s not for a project car :)

OK, I knew about the problems with the first gen 5-speed and a new driver is hard on a transmission, so it seems like the S is the way to go . The problem with that is I can barely change my own oil, what fresh hell awaits me in terms of supercharger maintenance?

Cool first car yes. Good idea for a first car?..... Fuhk are you crazy man? She will be learning how to daily this thing and these parts are pricey. Plus you said you hardly know oil changes.... Walk away from the idea of a Mini now. I have owned 3, cool cars, but not straight forward to work on, and parts are bezerker for a econo mobile. Better first car option.... 2013+ 2.5L VW Beetle w/ manual or automatic. Both drive wonderfully in that car.

Baby steps! Its not that bad tbh...lookup mod mini’s channel on YouTube, he has fantastic DIYs. I would suggest check out his supercharger service vid and then decide.

It may seem complicated but it isn’t too bad really, just gotta do it step by step. I recently did mine and its not too bad, only the plastic intake pipe thingy is a tough sob. This one:

Also, iirc its around 2000 for a shop to do it. Depending upon where you are, there could b a mini specialist shop near you... detroit, atlanta, PNW, etc
