I worked the morning on Friday, then had a long weekend. 3.5 days to do what ever I want. It was great. I did many things.

Kinja'd!!!

I went on a boat & drove off into a province that speaks a funny language.

Kinja'd!!!

I had stop by. It’s so much cheaper than buying alcohol in Ontario..

Kinja'd!!!

Did lots of hiking.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Visit a cold war fall out bunker. Between the frames & those 2 doors the stainless used steel weighs 30 tons. Bank of Canada gold vault.

Kinja'd!!!

The country had enough gold in Ottawa to cover the entire floor in 1.5ft of gold at the time.

Kinja'd!!!

I stayed in Algonquin Park at my parents trailer for the weekend.

Ottawa area/Quebec was on Saturday. Sunday was staying close by & hiking. Did quick hike this morning, then packed up. When I got home I logged about 1300kms. N ot a record. but  a  fun 1300kms.

If you didn’t buy a bottle of 97% Alcool, did you really go to the SAQ?

I regret not going to the Deifenbunker when I lived in Ottawa. Some day I’ll go.

The vault was built to hold the Countrys gold Reserve (800 tons) incase of a nuclear attack from the USSR. The Gold reserve no longer exists. T he big door needs 4 combination locks done right at the same time to unlock it, only 1 person in the bunker knew each combination(4 people to unlock it) . The smaller door was 3 locks. Even if they accidentally lock it today, they have to call the Bank of Canada to come unlock it. O nly they have the combinations .

I don’t drink that much & can do the strong stuff. I just got a bottle of Crown Royal Harvest Rye, then poutine from a road side stand attempting my best french speaking.

This was my 2nd time to Diefenbunker. The 1st time I did an engineering tour that went into the machine room. That room is really cool. The big air filters incase of radiation filled air, everything on heavy springs, etc.

Spent most of the weekend at the airsoft range helping out. Then spent a whole day today for the season-end Svending before storage. Tired as hell right now, and I got a final round interview tomorrow. Still a bit on the fence whether I should make the move though.

Not as interesting as yours, but pretty damn good. W ent to my first indoor concert since early March , which was in an 1850s timber barn at a pretty good winery. Rural area, nice winding driving roads there at back. Oh, and on Saturday, I picked up a vintage Malm/Preway style fireplace, which is going to look fantastic in my smoking room now that renovations are finally under way.

My weekend was incredibly unproductive and I should have started packing to move or working on my cars an d I didn’t and now I’ll be rushing to do that this week.

Did you have some real Quebec poutine?

From a sketchy looking road side stand in with an old man running it who could barely speak English. I could barely speak french, it was very broken French/English with some Italian hand signals. Eventually he got it “Oui oui, grosse Poutine.” “Merci Monsieur.” I know some french, but not enough to complete a sentence or carry a conversion. He looked at me funny when accidentally though large in french was “grande”, then I pull out my phone to check & it’s g rosse.

blew some leaves, cut down a tree, then had a bunch of craft beers around a fire pit. Sunday, blew some more leaves, drank some beer, split wood and trying to find a blown fuse in crz.

Grand( e) is actually the usual way to qualify the size of a dish in France but gros(se) could be a Quebecism and is also totally understandable as well.

Quebec French is a lazy France French. If speak Quebec French in France you get lots of funny looks.

Indeed, i meant that both would be totally understandable by any French speaking person, especially if you know that the other person is not well versed in French.

I t’s like asking for a tall, a large or a big drink ; while it might sound funny, it’s totally understandable :)
