I just transferred the title on the car and I’m off to the bank with a check.
So long 328i. You served me for 14 years with no breakdowns, 90,000 miles driven, 3 minor collisions, 4 autocrosses, 6 track days, and tolerated too much deferred maintenance. Farewell.

It was a good one. What's the current lineup?

Congratulations. You dodged a large caliber, net-worth-piercing bullet...

Mechanically, it was in OK shape. Mostly fresh suspension and upgraded brakes, engine still running well.
There was a decade in there where I moved from one job to another and wasn’t consistent in keeping all the little details in order, so there are plenty of little things to fix, but the buyer should have a sound car for a while. They get a bunch of extras accumulated over the years too.

There’s a gyro place next to it that I like even better, and a Baskin Robbins in the same complex.

No rest for that machine. It’ll be running errands and commutes right away with it’s new owner.

There’s a gyro truck in Kirkland that knows me by name.

I fee l ya. My 328i got me through a lot, minus the track time. It got me through college, helped me move half way across the country, got me to my first job. It was an automatic, and I sold it for pennies at 175k.
Weird story: A few years after selling the car, I got a letter in the mail from a law firm. Essentially there was a repair shop property being sold, and there were cars abandoned on the property. By law they were obligated to notify the last registered owners to remove their cars before they scrap them. I don’t know what happened, but I guess the guy to whom I sold the car never registered it, so the letter went to me... anyways, I looked up the shop’s address on google maps, and Street View actually showed my E36 on the lot! It was a tough sight - it had some kind of boat resting right on top of it, looked like it’s been there a while . I don’t know what happened, or why the next owner didn’t register it and abandoned it. It was sad to see how it ended up - I hope your E36 enjoys a nice, long, active life.

Did all the window regulators work throughout? The late E36s into the E46s’ have a reputation in that regard...

I replaced there driver window regulator ten years ago. For the others I just replaced the plastic sliders and lubed it.

I hope so too. I sold it to a cousin, though initially I thought I would want it to go to someone I did not know, that way I would not have to watch it die slowly. Hopefully it will be cared for.
