Yellow is the superior color.

In the shocking “off brand” state of a 356 being driven by an elderly white gentleman in a baseball cap...

I think I would go for one of these, I’ve had an orange car for a while so maybe it is effecting me.

That blue does it for me. Yeah, the Coupe just has a more serious “this isn’t just a Sunday afternoon driver” look about it.

I’ve got a couple of 911 Targas (which I love) but the coupes still retain the “serious” vibe--even though the Targa has a pretty stiff chassis.  it’s subtle but I’d definitely take a 356 Coupe over the Cabrio/Speedster look.

So that color on a Speedster or you just want a roof? Both those are absolutely delightful though.

I was just looking at the colors but I would want a hard top. I like a truck with a top off but I prefer a hard top like my Z. I wouldn’t mind a crank open sunroof. My great grandpa had one of each actually.

It’s still a delight to run into a “hand crank” sunroof.  Those early BMWs had ‘em.  My C107 has a monstrous sunroof, but even by the early 1970s Benz was using a motor-cable system.  It’s clunky but still works.

My W123 has the cable system, makes me nervous but it still works fine. I would like a slightly earlier Merc with all manual doors and windows.

I was just coming in to ask why the cars weren’t on fire, and why there were unbroken panes of glass on un-looted and un- vandalized buildings in the background, but your last line explains that

I’m shocked at how well the W123 interior has held up in my 240D.  The engine’s shot but the body and interior is SoCal purrrrfect.

MB Tex is alien technology. I got a pretty clean one, the dash was good and it has factory sheepskin seat covers so the seats are pretty good. I could use an armrest cover, there is a crack where the driver’s elbow rests. The buy I bought it from found it with a wrecked engine, he swapped it so it only has about 120k on it. My two middle dash vents won’t open and there is a leak in the vacuum doors so they don’t work if I haven’t driven it in a few days.

The dashpad is  primary weak link.  I don’t know who got rich tooling those dash-caps but it’s a necessity.

I put one on my Z, looks great. I hate the carpet dash covers, that should stop. I will have to take the dash off to fix the vents someday, they say to just change all four and do some other stuff when it’s off. We will see how 2021 goes, I haven’t worked during covid. I don’t really want to sell anything but a w123 or some other merc sedan is the easiest for me to replace. I’ve put too much work in the truck and Z.

That was in the Pearl District. We were having an early dinner in that great Cuban place around the corner. I don’t know how badly the Pearl was hit— I think most of the action’s been over by the Federal Bldg, Lower Burnside and the corridor along Couch Street.

Funny that Ted Wheeler is about to lose his job for “being too moderate”.  Portland’s always been a mystery to me.
