FYI if anyone is a subscriber. Also, is anyone else seeing a “subscribe to our newsletter” thing below? What the hell is that? Is Kinja pleading for emails in the middle of people’s posts?!

Also, is Kinja literally inserting “subscribe to our newsletter” cards into hte middle of people’s posts?! I don’t know if anyone else is seeing this - I don’t know how to get rid of it.

At $5/month Xbox Game Pass PC is very good value for the money. I’m not sure it’s as great if they ever take it out of beta and raise the price to $10 or whatever, but even there that’s only the cost of 2-3 AAA games per year.

Kinja has been doing this for a week or two. Apparently if you put a horizontal rule (the line divider thing) in the post where it appears, it will prevent it from displaying. Not worth my effort though.

It’s already out of beta and at $10/month since September I think.

Hmm, see that’s what I get for not paying attention. I wonder if they raised my price...
Edit: Yep new pricing takes effect October 17th.

Wait, you can get gamepass on PC? And do you get to keep the game forever once you download it? I haven’t really fiddled with Xbox game pass stuff, though I do have Forza Horizon 4 and an account.

Yes, you can get it on the PC ($10/month, or more with Ultimate which works on both Xbox and PC)
No, you can’t keep it forever. Like other game pass games, if you cancel you lose it, or if the title is removed from game pass (though given that Microsoft owns Forza, I wouldn’t expect it’s going anywhere) .

Ah rats, it would only be worth it for the first 4 months, then I’d be paying 10 extra dollars for only one game... yes, I’m aware I could also get other games, but I really don’t want more distractions... even though I already have many distractions...
