I swear, it's like there was some conspiracy among electric car builders in the '70s and '80s to make their cars as undesirable as possible. If Saudi Aramco wanted to keep everyone driving gas guzzlers, they would fund an electric car that looked like this.

used to be a common thing to drop in the Rabbit Hole.
Lately The Drive is more interesting. I’ve even stopped by to see Murilee once in awhile. At least over there their politics stay in the glove box .

I think part of it stems from the basis of the “beefed up electric golf cart” mentality that the entire industry had until Tesla came along.

That will actually appeal to Tesla’s existing demo. Of course, many of them are so sycophantic Musk worshippers, he could stick a “T” emblem on the front of a fully loaded and leaking honey dipper truck and they’d still buy it.
Whether it will sell to loyal buyers of existing domestic pickups is an open question.
I do think it would be cool if Tesla did a shot-for-shot remake of one of Chevy's old Like a Rock commercials. Fat guy slamming door of muddy Cybertruck, ridiculous amount of weight being dropped into bed from excessive height, slow motion footage bouncing through construction site, kids sitting on tailgate in a meadow, close up face shots of bearded workers in hard hats, some gratuitous American flags. Might be hilarious.

Those side windows make it look sort of like the car is melting somewhere in the middle.

Yeah... one thing kept leading to another and then I hit that jackpot restomod link. I found the crash test video also to be quite interesting.

Yeah... I think it was a 1970s approach to making it look futuristic.

I myself am not into trucks and wouldn’t buy the Cybertruck for myself. But it should be noted that Sandy Mu nro says he loves it.

So I’d say the Cybertruck will appeal to at least some demo outside of their usual demographic. It will be interesting to see.

From what I understand, truck owners love to have statistics they can brag about, so if Tesla can push standard horsepower, standard torque, tow rating, and payload, and also make a big thing out of the toughness of the stainless steel body and the "ballistic" glass windows, that could do it.
