Although, I think the tan/red is a better color combination than the black/red of my 128i.

The transmission choice is also superior to that of the auto in my 128i.

The downsides to this car are lack of a sport pack, and that CEL. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!  

If you’ve got 10k lying around and want an Vermillion Red E90 with a 6MT, this could be it.

Had a vehicle this color and while I dig it, it wouldn’t have been my first choice at the time of looking, plus people thought it was purple and as much as I was comfortable with my manhood, I always referred to it has burgundy, not purple .

Now Plum Crazy I can get behind, especially with the shaker hood.

People are always misidentifying the color of my car. I don’t mind brown but that is one color my car isn’t . And people always say “brown” with such derision. I still think it is the best color these came in, but yeah people arguing about the color is kind of boring and pointless.

That said, how could anyone ever mistake that specific dark red for purple?

Honestly, I kind of agree with you. BMW’s generally look best in white/silver/so many good blues.

And Mercedes look best in black.

Admittedly mine is a pretty weird one with how the bronze metallic flake interacts with the dark red paint, forming a kind of earthy orange color.

But yeah, not brown. Brown would be nice but this ain’t it.

A friend in HS occasionally got to drive their perpetually broken eggplant colored C Class to school. Some people would not admit it was purple and claimed it was red. Still don’t get that one.

Are you sure? Earlier this year I looked at an LCI E91 328i xDrive in Barbera Red that wasn’t an Individual order car.

You’re right, it wasn’t the LCI that phased it out, but it did get replaced by vermillion red in 2011.

The best color is so highly dependent on the individual model though. BMWs look good in more subtle colors I think. Those dark reds really suit the look. A flashy bright red doesn’t work as well with the modern design language.

I don’t know if this makes sense to you, but I feel that the exterior red works for me only if the tan interior comes with it. Show me a black or grey interior with that same paint, and all of a sudden, I’m not interested in the least.

I love this color. The dealer that I bought me e90 from had a coupe in this color. If I had been manual I would have bout it.

It was a sport model to with adjustable seats and Gorgeous 18” wheels.

The current owner has a unpainted M front  bumper on it. Which makes me sad.

Admittedly, I’d prefer it in white but I was picky on the spec (6 speed, sport package, slick top) and selection was slim so I bought the second non-black example I saw for sale in Ontario in almost a year of looking.

O nce I delete the chrome and get the new wheels powdercoated silver I think I’ll be quite happy to leave it red. If not, I’ll consider wrapping it Alpine White at some point.

I had an Arena Red 993 Turbo 1:18 scale as a kid, and since I can’t quite have that in Forza, I take a 993 GT2, add AWD and make it Arena Red.  Closest I’ve gotten :(.

For some reason i can’t stand tan or grey leather. Black really isn’t much better i guess though. I like brown or orange leather. Baseball mitt Audi TT, or sport design GS300....

And yes, i’m open to the possibility that i just have bad taste.

Finding the right color plus 6MT can be a pain. It took me two months of searching before I found my E90. I really wanted white, but settled for the grey. If I had to do it again, I’d do a nation wide search and would want a comp pack and a manual.

Un fortunately , when you don’t get to order the car new, it’s hard to be as picky. If I’d been able to buy my M3 new, I’d gotten alpine white over tan.

The X4 looks wonderful in Flamenco Red. Unfortunately not offered on the X3 or 3-series .

You can get Toronto Red on the X3 M, though, which I would also gladly own :

All in all I’d say  BMWs have always been great in red.

If I wanted my true ideal spec (the above + Alpine white + Msport, which itself is super rare on 128is ), I’d almost certainly have to include the states in my search. F inding a dream car and driving it back is on my bucket list so one day such a trip will happen.

R ight now I’m thinking R32/33 GT-R driving from Vancouver as I have friends there who could do some legwork for me.

I always wanted to buy a car and road trip it home, so I convinced someone else to do that.  It was a lot cheaper in the end. I also had a blast doing it and wouldn’t hesitate to do it for a car I bought in the future.
