I understand these are working as intended but I dont understand. Each shock is bolted to a metal plate that’s bolted to my leaf spring u bolts - on a solid front axle. Was doing some fender shaving and going full lock. What part of the geometry is moving here because my solid axle sure isn’t.

But how? They're bolted to my leaf springs which are bolted to a big metal tube (axle).

The middle part is not bolted to the front axle, it’s bolted to the steering rack that moves back and forth. Hence the compression on one side and stretch on the other.

The middle part is bolted to your tie rod, not the axle tube. Dampens the steering

Put simply... that’s a snake oil product for a problem that exists in perception only. Get rid of them...

The centre of the steering dampers is bolted to your track rod (name?, not the axle) which ties front wheels together for steering, the outer points are bolted to the axle itself. When you steer, the drag link goes down from the pitman arm on the steering box to one of the front wheels and turns it, the track rod translates that movement to the other wheel.

Now I see it. Thanks all.

Right idea, but wrong terminology. Track rod or track bar is generally what’s used to keep the axle better located side to side in relation to the chassis.
It’s a tie rod that simply goes between the two front wheels. It’s also where you adjust total toe on these.
But yes, the two dampers attach to the middle of the tie rod, which moves with the front wheels, and the other ends attach to the axle.
This is an upgraded setup, likely meant to be more aggressive in combating ‘death wobble’ that these are known for. Most of them just have a single shock for a steering stabilizer.
