...because all the VWs are broken, except the Cabby, and that’s a horrible daily.
The last time it was ridden more than around the block was February, the day I got it. I should be able to squeeze a good month out of this before it’s too cold to ride.
Gets up to 30 on level surface, bogs to 20 on a slight hill. MPH, thankfully.

That looks sweet! I love mopeds!

Thanks! It’s fun! Makes weird noises and is very slow. Not as many bolt ons for a Laura M56 as a Tomos, unfortunately. 30 is fine I guess. I scrape the kickstand as is so I guess I don’t really need more speed for now.

Go for maximum aero and try for 32!

i know this is tangential to why you posted but ive always liked those pavers that let the grass through. what did you pay for that patch?

I thought about it, but I fear death.

This is an apartment, bur I really do like that type of paver though. They look good.

I’m picturing you hitting 31 and pieces start flying every direction. Your fear is completely understandable.

Ya know, this was the first time I rode in traffic. I know people who take Tomos bikes and kit them out to where they can do 60 easy. I don’t know if I would WANT that. These things are tiny and a bit sketch.

I know I wouldn’t want to.
I’ve ridden a moped that had been modded to where the owner claimed it would do 45. I didn’t have the nerve to get it there; breaking 35 s eemed like warp speed.

I’ll tell you 25 felt quick. If I can hunt down a pipe, I should be good for 35-40. I would love that, as I’d actually be able to keep pace with cars.
I’m blown away by how cheap it is to make a Tomos A35 bike fast as hell. A 70cc kit, big pipe, upjet, and sprocket can get you over 50. Terrifying. And that’s like, $400 of parts, tops.

I love the look of these things.

Some better pedals like OneUp Composite's would make it even faster! And improve cornering.

May I suggest some modding, because those turn signals on the front and back MAY be period, but my GOD are they ugly!
Also, LED replacement bulbs for everything, I’d think would be brighter
than the incandescents because they require less electricity for max brightness, and would ask less of the puny electrical system the bike has....also, LEDs = more brightness = you’re more visible, and on any bike, that’
s a good thing!

Lighting is indeed poor. I don’t mind the signals honestly. But the headlight needs a bright as fuck bulb. I don’t plan night rides. But one never PLANS them to happen I suppose.

I’d still upgrade all of em if it were me...pretty cheap on Amazon and more visible is better. At least get some LED bulbs for the current housings, if nothing else. :)
W
e just had a 60-year old fellow who was a staple gentleman of the community get killed when a truck hit him on his E-bike last week....sad stuff. Better safe than sorry, I’d say! :(

Your feet will stick much better to the pedals and therefore the bike. This sort of contact will improve your ability to control the bike through body position.

I suppose. It already corners quite slow as the kickstand drags.

I don’t plan to rude on the busy roads. But bright bulbs are in order.

Good, I don’t want any of us Oppos getting hurt, haha! 2020 sucks enough already...
