Airbus looks at hydrogen as the way to reduce emissions, since batteries are still too far away for most aeronautical purposes.

Nothing bad has ever happened from having hydrogen in an airborne vehicle.

Toyota still contends, for passenger vehicle applications, that fuel cells reach price parity in 2025. Meaning a 400 mile fuel cell sedan can be built for less money, and cost less per mile to operate, than anything the BEV guys can do.

Hydrogen is a clear winner in aviation and heavy transit... once you have solved those logistics problems?  The use of the same hydrogen for cars and light trucks becomes a “no brainer”.

Boy, when you think about the chemical and material complexities of fuel cells, I would be very wary of being an early adopter. Maybe if they gave a 100,000 mile 10 year warranty but if not, it would be very pricy when you have problems.....

Compared to how often petrol cars catch fire?

That’s a disingenuous arguement, and Tesla only gets so much press because Tesla.

Oh, maybe, but the Chinese are already projecting million-mile lifetimes in those bus fuel cell trials. Five minute fuel ups. 600 mile range.

It’s already pretty awesome, even before it trickles down to the passenger vehicle market.

The Long Beach trials are also going very well. My money’s still on Toyota, Honda and Kenworth... and the later Musk is with his Big Truck? The comfortable I am with the bet.

Even one of the “green Tesla sites” had an interesting piece the other day to the effect of “Hey, did Elon just gaslight us again? The big battery day came and went with NO actual working product being shown— just PowerPoint slides and the same static Roadster and Semi demo we saw years ago.. And a promise that the new batteries might be better in 3-5 years. ”
