I had an exceptional picture hunting evening yesterday. I found some Vietnam engineers pages, if you can find pics from people who used these trucks regularly it’s a goldmine. Otherwise you just hope to see one in the background, they were all over bases but the Korean War is a lot harder to find since they used tons of WWII vehicles. Some gun truck images too, convoy gun trucks were mostly deuces and 5 ton, I see these used as temporary gun placements and for the engineers work site escorts in some images. These are all Nam:

Does anyone have any insight into that truck with the white crosses on black background?  What organization is it?

There are some real good ones in there. This civilian woman just walking through this dusty patch is pretty striking.

I assumed it was a hearse/funeral with a religious organization. It’s a military market M601 Dodge. But maybe it’s just a political organization, like the black vans that drive around in Japan with loudspeakers.

Yeah it’s amazing how people just get on with life. We would pass mothers with kids trying to get shit done in Afghanistan. It’s all so stupid, people just want to get on with their lives and some idiots can’t be reasonable so they just have to sling lead at each other for a few years. It’s funny to listen to civilians talk about war since they have no idea, the tacti bros in bro trucks and Jeeps shooting their 50 or AR out somewhere into the dirt. It’s all insane, I like to do research but it all just confirms how stupid these conflicts were/are. Don’t get me started!

In most of these photos, the Vietnamese are just trying to get in with their lives. It's really eye opening. And yes, I would like to get you started.

We would have to find someone more familiar with Vietnam, I can cover Japan but not there! I think a friend of my dad is married to a Vietnamese woman, I’d have to look into that.

in some ways its weird to see in an active war zone soldiers are just picking up a camera and taking so many pics.

Well a lot of these shots are not in hot zones, this batch is where the engineers are building roads etc.. Until you dig into the files you don’t realize how much was built over there, huge long paved roads, public works everything, dams, drainage... it’s totally insane. There are a lot of pics from LZs, fire bases ect.. These seem to be in fairly safe areas, but they would get attacks. There are a lot of personal photos, they did take pics all over, you are right. Some BW, some color and the skills vary widely!
