Props to the guy that balanced the driveshafts on my Tundra. I was doing some pre trip maintenance and noticed the rubber on my carrier bearing was completely shot . The bearing was just wobbling around in the carrier. Truck drove smooth as can be. Swapped in a new bearing and am back in business.

How hard of a job is it? Mine looks new at 145k miles, but I figure I’ll need to do it sooner or later.

It’s easy. Took about  an hour.

1. Mark your driveshaft so it goes back on exactly the same way.

2. Support shafts and unbolt the rear shaft from the center yoke.

3. Unbolt the carrier bearing and give the yoke a whack with a mallet if it doesn’t separate from the rear shaft.

4. Use an impact gun to remove the center bolt from the yoke.

5. Use a puller to remove old carrier bearing.

6. Install new bearing and bolt everything back up.

Cool, puller is the only thing I don’t have, I’ll have to get one. Thanks!

Splurge and get a high quality, largish two arm puller. I’ve used mine to do the upper and lower ball joints and it made those swaps a breeze. I think this is the one I have. The crappy ones from HF just make the job more frustrating.

Only $42?? That is a great buy. I hate running to NAPA and dropping off parts, so this would be well worth it.
