What a bunch of badasses. Great photo. Shepard be like, “I’m the first American in space. What have you done today?” Grissom and Schirra are all business. This strikes me as an extremely confident, competent, and capable group of men. And they were.

I just finished watching the first season of For all Mankind and quite enjoyed it. They definitely went with a far more progressive fictional US history which bugged me a bit. It was interesting for sure though, especially the thought experiment that was what happened if the Apollo program kept growing up to the point of a base on the moon.

Especially compared to the Apollo command module.
The Cosmosphere also has a a mock-up of the Apollo-Soyuz test project docked. The Soyuz looks tiny too.
