Toyota needs to bring over the real Yaris in general, including the GR version and also the regular Yaris
FUCK the stupid rebadged lame-ass rust-prone inferior Mazda 2. It is not as good as a real Toyota, and they gave it an uglier front end, but Mazda sells the original bumper in PR.
Mazda needs to start selling the 2 under its own name again, and Toyota needs to sell the real Yaris over here again

I don’t think we would. But in five to ten years, we absolutely would. Second - or third-hand, that is.

Probably the one Toyota I’d trade my WRX for. If it’s priced between a WRX and STI, I’d be very tempted.

So you will trade your TL for in all likelihood a $40k Yaris?

why? so you can not buy one? just like nobody else will buy one?

If “would love” doesn’t equal “ will buy” then no, you really don’t matter.

Maybe the GR won’t sell much, but still, the regular Yaris needs to be sold here.

why, so nobody will buy it?
car companies don’t exist for the purpose of making unprofitable shit just so you can talk about it on the internet. The Fiesta is dead. The Sonic is dead. The Fit dies next year. Scion is dead.
Small cars have never made anyone any money in North America, and with the market shrinking as much as it has, they all just incinerate money. The Yaris does not “need” to be sold here because Toyota would lose money on every goddamned one.

Yeah? Not likely... especially given it’s likely to cost as much as 5 0 grand i n Oz. There’s a lot of other ( bigger) driver oriented cars at that price point...

Without VAT and various other taxes/fees, it would probably be around $35k in the US.

I don’t think it’d
be that much. I know they announced it as being around 30,000£ which converts to
40 grand
, but the price of a car in the UK tends to be higher than in the States after conversion
. Typical rule of thumb is that the USD price for a car is pretty close to
linear to
its cost in GBP. For example, the Toyota 86 starts at £29,500, which converts to $38,600, but
actual US base price is around $27k
. Kia Stinger starts at £32,000 ($41,900) there but is $33k here. Civic £19,700 ($25,800) vs $19,850, £20k for a Fiesta ST there but $22k for it here, etc etc. So if the GR came to the states I’d expect it in the $29-34k range.

The Fit is leaving? Didn’t know that. I always like the concept of them and they’re perfect size for me 90% of the time. But, I think the EPA mileage was worse than my Mazda 3 when I was shopping and it covers the 10% that the Fit doesn’t.

Remember that not even the real Yaris is here in the US , so they would have to do federal testing for one trim of limited cars. I expect it to be as expensive here, if not more.

But we don’t even get the actual Yaris in the US, we get a rebadged Mazda2. So Toyota would have the federalize a limited trim of one car to sell it here. I’d imagine there will be a premium for that.

If Toyota sells these, we’ll all sit around waiting for cheap used ones, and when nobody buys them new they’ll be canceled after 2 years. Sad. It’s why we can’t have nice (brown manual wagon) things.

I don’t think they’d bring it here without bringing the regular Yaris as well. The cost to federalize the car only for the GR would be prohibitive, I think.

It’s either not going to happen or they’ll bring the GR with the regular Yaris and it’ll be priced appropriately, I hope.
