1) I have to wait three weeks to upgrade my internet from 10 Mbps to 25 Mbps since they need to send out a tech.

2) My coworker three blocks away can get 50 Mbps download speeds and I can’t.

I just put my old HDD in my new PC, the games are updating, and hoo boy is this going to take a while.

I’m in the middle of a valley with five million people in it, and my internet provider can’t even feed me the 10mbps I’m paying for.

We get our internet via satellite. Even if it actually ran at the nominated 25 Mbps that we pay for (it rarely does - more usually 14-16 ) the latency (~630 ms) would kill any online gaming experience.

Plus reliability is an issue, especially given that I'm sending this via 4G mobile because the prevailing weather has compromised the satellite signal...

Yeah, satellite has issues with clouds and such, from what I recall. That sucks.

Suburban Seattle, 200 Mbps per speedtest, and I wonder if it could be faster :)

Middle of nowhere Indiana, 100mbps for $40 a month :)

Man. I really need to sign up for internet. Mobile hotspotting gets old when speeds get throttled so quickly

We get 3.2 on ATT. We are on the only road out of town with high speed. The service stops 3 houses down from us.

Everyone else has to deal with satellite. Cellphones barely work So they require Wifi at home.

Cmon Starlink.

That's awful.

Rural internet and cell service is the worst. It takes a lot of time to load things on Mom’s internet, and I sometimes get locked out of anything with two-factor authentication because the cell service goes in and out (but mostly stays out).

We pay for 15Mbps (But only 768k up), the fastest offered by any provider in our area (aside from the custom fiber optic company, who *WILL* run gigabit-class fiber to your house if you can foot the (very hefty) bill...) and we get between 11-14 average. We have NO cell service at our house, but if I go 1/2 mile north I get LTE+ at nearly 60Mbs down/25Mbs up . Doesn’t matter because no US cell carrier offers a reasonable data-only plan any way.

Life is too short to deal with all that, decent internet is a commodity rather than a luxury these days.

The slow internets sure doesn’t make me miss city life.

I keep thinking about the fiber option, but I know the closest trunk is 6 miles away... The cost to run the fiber to our house would probably be over $50,000... Even if I could get everyone on the road to pitch in and commit to a contribution it would still run ~$4, 0 00 for the install cost, and then ~$100/mo.

Yep, DSL. We get 20 down and it’s... acceptable, I guess.

Thankfully there’s a cell tower that’s close and that connection’s usually faster (if we need it). Looking forward to 5G coverage!

Very nice. Hopefully that makes it to middle of nowhere Oklahoma before long!
