I will probably eventually replace the “front clip” on this car. In the meantime, I need to give myself some sort of headlight assembly. Any suggestions?

Temporary?
Cheap?

Strap this to the front

Bolt some cheap knockoff Hellas to the car and call it a day.

Walmart-special sealed beam headlight hooked up to some batteries.

That’s perfect. Thank you for the tip.

Snowplow lights.

I cannot think of anything to say in response to that.

One guy said these .
I’m going to a BIG swap meet on Saturday and this will be a perfect problem for which to seek a solution.
I am working up a paint scheme for the Vic and prior to applying it, I’ll probably replace the front body parts and hood. I’m going to spray Rustoleum, which costs $10.99/quart, so I’ll use the existing setup to practice that technique. But 3.55 LSD and a transmission shift reprogramming would happen before I disassembled the front end. In the meantime, we’ll do functional and tidy.

HA! But they had much more to work with than I do.

Snowplow lights are meant for road use, and include built in turn signals.
My four second google search didn’t find a cheaper set than these, but I bet they’re out there.
Looking forward to seeing the paint scheme.

I mean, kinda. The capsule was wrecked and the header panel was ruined as well. I ziptied that sealed beam in as a temporary measure and drove it for a year like that until the transmission blew up.

There’s nothing here on the corner to work with. And I’m not ready to tackle replacing body panels.

Duct tape some maglites to the hood

Happy to help, though shop teacher has a great recommendation in a snow plow light giving the built in blinker, but my harbor freight specials are certainly cheaper lol

I’m going to a big swap meet on Saturday and I’ll be looking for something there. Lights are something there’s always a lot of.

If you catch enough lightning bugs and put them all in a jar, you could then bungee cord it to the front of the car. This solution won’t last super long, though. Lightning bugs have disappointingly short lifespans...

Honestly, headlight housings for these are so cheap that I’m going to suggest you get a set and secure them with zipties until you have a new header panel. The wiring will plug right in if nothing else.
Heck, I have two passengers and one driver’s OEM
headlight housings for these, used and a bit clouded, you could have one or two or three but for the cost of shipping you’re better off on ebay getting new ones which may even have bulbs
.

I’d probably bolt a snowplow headlight and turn signal assembly to the bumper inner structure then.

I have one also, not in very good shape. The mounting location is gone, but I have a Fab idea or two. I'll just kludge on an off-road light or something for the moment. I'm going to a big swap meet on Saturday.

Wow, I’m shocked to discover the Craigslists in that area *aren’ t* full of shitty vics being parted out. Here in the northeast there are piles of them.
I could only find this one that appeared to have the parts you need. This one is a complete body and interior (no drivetrain or chassis) for $700, so for $2000K you could have a relatively straight and complete car.
Unrelated, how the hell does this happen ?

One reason i'm I climbed to do Battle Damage Assessment and Repair and paint over the damage and rock on.

Kinda what I,m thinking. I may even shape some aluminum flashing and fair it.

Nice, and pretty much any headlight would work, it’s a big opening to fill.

Yeah. I’m curious about fabricating a solution, even if it’s temporary. Fabbing something sounds like more fun to me than taking apart the entire front end and having it always slightly crooked.
