In my journey to lose weight for my wedding, I decided to sign up for a boxing gym. TITLE Boxing Club is essentially 45 minutes of HIIT (high intensity interval training) mixing in cardio, hitting a heavy bag, and some core work. I tried it last week. Once I caught my breath, I enjoyed it. It kept me occupied, was not boring whatsoever, and I get to hit something.

So now, I am shopping for my own set of gloves. The loaner gloves at the gym smelled awful (and I’d have to pay to borrow them every session). I recently learned there are different kinds of gloves: sparring, bag, competition. So I assume I’d be looking in the bag glove section.

Best movie every IMO

I don’t know the first thing about the brands that produce these gloves. The gym recommended a set for $120. Wasn’t sure if they are being genuine with their rec, or just want me to buy their most expensive product. My first instinct is to buy these because of the aesthetic.

Not bad for $50. Unless someone convinces me that these will break down and wear prematurely, I’ll probably get these.

Edit: These gloves are backordered until the end of February. Bummer

Update: Found a good alternative. Still keeps the aesthetic without breaking the bank. Review seems good. See them Friday!

Why would you even consider anything else?

I have always used open handed sparing gl oves like they use in MMA. You can hit the bag with them and also do open handed techniques at the same time. As for boxing gloves specific, all I can say is real leather is probably better and check their weight. Heavy gloves get your arms tired much faster. I have never had my arms get so tired then after a boxing work out. I have also never gotten punched in the face so much with my own glove.

Fair point. From a function standpoint. I don’ t want to buy these if they’ll just wear out in two months. I was hoping to hear someone say either “oh yeah anything from TITLE are great” or “those will blow out on you in weeks, get XYZ brand”

They come in three different weights, I’ll just pick the lightest (12 oz.). The class does specific boxing techniques, so MMA gloves wouldn’t be effective.

Those look pretty good. Just make sure to always wrap your hands, it can make a big difference long term.

This is fantastic. And minus the body size, quite accurate

They make you wrap every time. Probably a liability concern. I’m also practicing that myself. They make it look so easy.

I have a pair of 16 oz. Title real leather training gloves. They were probably about $50 and have held up well, although I use them mostly for sparring and less heavy bag.

ETA: FWIW, I use Mexican-style wraps and have medium-to-large hands, and the gloves are snug but comfortable.

I literally just ate a kielbasa for lunch and 5 minutes ago and while I waited, I said to myself “Five minutes , Turkish !”

Speaking of Guy Ritchie, I watched the new Aladdin over the weekend on Disney+ and was pleasantly surprised.

So glove weights are relative to size as well? a 12oz glove fits differently than 16oz?

I should have added: I know nothing about boxing or boxing equipment.

Yeah, basically t hey’re sized and weighted for different size/weight people, and I am not a small person.

Good catch, I would have ordered the smallest weight and had a small issue on my hands (no pun intended).
