Got a new phone and it’ s very shiny. I want to keep it shin y. Specifically the screen and the camera lens. Here’s the thing- I hate phone cases. I just do and that’s the deal. So...what are my options? I notice the lens sticks out about a mm from the back, so something to give it that extra depth might be enough. Phone is an S9 (not plus). What do recommend?

You may hate phone cases, but I have a glass-backed phone myself with a bulging camera lens (moto g6) and my only real option was a case. You’ll have to find a slim one that works with your phone and doesn’t cause the edges of the screen to register fake touches.
Otherwise, you’ll need to consider a hip holster for your phone and be incredibly paranoid about when and where you take it out of your holster .

Being careful. Take the high risk route and go case- less. You are acutely more aware of how you treat your pocket computer.

M y current caseless phone is a G5, so I’ m not worried about that. the bulge on the s9 is tiny so i just need a tiny bit of extra depth.

Exactly why I don’t like cases. I’ve gone caseless for 3 years and stopped breaking phones.

I have a Nokia 9 and love it. Amazing photos and super fast with no bloatware.

Skins will protect the body of the phone from scratches. I have used Dbrand skins in the past and been happy. They even do skins that cover the glass around the camera lens.

A super thin, see-through case. I hate them too, but have accepted that I need one considering how spendy these things are. Unfortunately b eing careful only works until it doesn’t.

You hate cases, so naturally, I’ll recommend one: Zizo Bolt. I like my cases burly and this one does a burly case’s job without being burly. (Not perhaps without being ugly...)

IMHO I would do the “liquid screen protector” front and rear, followed by glass screen protector or DBrand skin on the rear (I hate front screen protectors)

I cracked my s9+ with a screen protector and a case without dropping it.
The bezel around the fingerprint sensor turns white with wear.

I have a Razer 2 so a case makes it rather bulky. I went with a D Brand skin because the glass back is too slippery for life, I’m very happy with it. I was worried it would start coming up on the edges but a month in and so far so good.

I’ve never bothered with a case/screen protector. Seems silly to buy a sleek new phone and then wrap it in some bulky case. On the other hand I did fumble my S7, causing some delamination of the front glass (the screen was fine, but I suspect no longer waterproof).

I have an S9+, so I understand. The backs of these phones are hyper sensitive and if dropped right will break and cut you. ( Don’t ask me how...) tech 21 and speck make awesome cases. You barely feel them, AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET A GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR. It’ll honestly save you, that curved glass while pretty, can get slippery. And the protector works.
