I’m actually considering this one, anyone interested in doing me the favour of taking it for a testdrive?

I can’t fly out until the 17th anyway, so if I place a deposit or wahtever sight unseen I might still value a test driver.

Hmmm, not sure when I could do it, but I’m local.

I’ll keep you in mind, should things progress. Obviously no pressure.

I would enjoy it, and could maybe do it Saturday or something.

Specifics on what to look for would help - I don’t know what the weak point is on these. There is a nearby Oppo who had a TSX, dtg11. Think his was auto but it was this gen.

general perception of quality of the car, I’ve driven several TSXs both auto and manual, so not the car itself, but more about this specific car. Is the power ok, does the clutch feel good, brakes need work, etc.

specific concerns would be things I can’t see in the photos, such as any dents or scratches being hidden by a good detailing. Good photos can hide subtle hail damage for instance.

then testing all the things I cant touch, power windows, seat heaters, cruise control, etc.

And then as it was New York and then Illinois some concern about underbody rust, so a good look underneath and in the wheel wells.

Really, just want someone who isn’t trying to get me to finance through them to give me a real impression.

Hmm....are you sure you’re considering a comfortable, somewhat modern car next to the Honda and Toyota.....? What’s going on man? You alright...?...:P

it’s a manual K-series fun car, basically a Civic Si in responsible man clothes :D

but yeah, it’s a leap. It would basically be as nice as the wife’s CR-V, I suspect the neighbours wont know what to do with themselves as I sell the 90s Corolla and keep only 2 other 90s pieces of junk on my property.

It always surprises me how attractive cars stay for sale for long time. If you are really interested, ask them to put it on a hoist, check the history and if it looks fine buy it, You won’t find another for that money and miles.

As wear indicators, the headlights look great. Meaning either garaged and lightly driven in summer, or recent front end collision. I would have liked to see a picture of the engine to see how much underhood corrosion of aluminum parts there is, That might indicate if it has seen much salt. Body looks very good, you can’t get a better $7000 car if it drives like it looks.

completely valid. Carfax is clean, I too would guess it was a beloved garaged car. I’ve asked the dealer for some engine and underbody pics already . I too was surprised at least ab engine pic wasnt included by defualt.

I’ve asked the dealer to take a down payment to hold it for me, could you perhaps send me an email so we could chat with real names behind the scenes? gundara(at)hotmail.com

again, no pressure, but some  basic hands on would be useful.

Just buy it then. Heck, it’s a year newer than my Si and 40,000 less. I doubt a Toyota dealer would mess with it if it wasn’t legit.

To be honest, I’m all go. But the purchase involves family funds and a wife to please. Trying to cross all my Ts and dot all my Is so I dont end up in the dog house.

I guess it matters how much you need the car. It’s at a awesome price point and chances are somebody will pounce on it. If the reputation is stellar for the dealership, and if the purchase makes sense, call up somebody there to ask some questions and if it all sounds good put a deposit down and buy a plane ticket.

I figure i t’s hard to measure the benefit of being too early, its easy to measure the cost of being to late.

Good for you, enjoy the miles! + Hopefully you m iss the snow!

PS, I rented a ride in a twin of yours in ‘09 . It was a hurricane Katrina car. This picture was at Joliet, about 40 miles from where your’s is.

By the way, the cost of that race rental was about same as what you are paying for your new car.....
