Tractor pics and some of the backgrounds in those pics are great.  I give up, what are the straps doing on the Volvo, to they don't appear to be holding the hood down, can't imagine why you would need to hold the windshield up, flummoxed?

the Volvo was bought as for my Uncle’s wedding, they are ribbons to decorate the car for the wedding day.

i dont know, but it was a working machine on my grandparents farm, my guess was its a 250 due to practicality and price.

Old mate clearly had a thing for off brand tractors. A late 60s Zetor  from Czechoslovakia and a Japanese Iseki that was clearly new at the time...

which is surprising, considering he was a British Naval officer in WW2 and served in the pacific. Some folks certainly didn’t appreciate Japanese goods after the war. But from all reports (I never met my grandfather) he was a practical man, who likely made his choice of tractor based on price and function.

Probably. Frankly, many of the more enlightened WW2 veterans simply couldn’t be arsed bearing a grudge. There were better things to invest your time and energy in. Given these photos appear to date from the early 80s by my guess...time has clearly healed any of those wounds anyway.

Does your family still have the farm ?

No/Yes. Not this farm, but a farm

My understanding is the land in Australia was offered to British officers as Australia was in need of workers after the war. My grandfather was at a hospital in Aus during the war, so took the offer of land gladly; and thats what brought the family over.

After my grandfathers death in 84, my Uncle ran the farm into the early 90s. It was originally dairy, was sheep by the time of his death. But the now prime land was sold, my Grandmother moved into the village, and my Uncle bought a new smaller farm.  If I recall it all, I’m sure I’m at least close.
